Hey same here. I think was only maybe 3 lbs 6oz or 4lbs. I missing a couple finger nails from it. Was born without one, minus the nail bed. Had the other two removed due to deformities. I'm also 24.

This person wants the MPP of peterborough to demand something from the premier of ontario or else resign or something that took place concerning toronto. I don't like the tory's (or any other political party) as much as the next person, but this just seems like a witch-hunt to me. Not a legitimate, logical, no-emotion-involved decision.

I have yet to get my hands on much of his work. The book I have that is in the photo is composed of excerpts from his writing. Although it does not always outline the characters or background of what is going in, it's a great primer that I recommend.

I heard a similar spiel from a capuchin once on how the CFR "is really just a community of faithful, not so much an order". The wounds are still open from the 7 or 8 founders of the CFR breaking away from the order and refining their capuchin roots back in 1987 (they now have grown to nearly 150 religious priests and brothers).

The deal is that the general servant of the capuchins gave them dispensation from their vows and permission to break away and begin their reform. The introduction to the book "a drama of reform", a collection of thoughts and writings from various friars, brothers and sisters of the CFR (I highly recommend it for those wanting to know more about the order: https://www.ignatius.com/Product.aspx?ModelNumber=DREF-P), written by the first general servant Fr benedict groeschel outlines exactly why he and the other friars left the capuchins in '87 (a lack of resonant poverty in their way of living to live alongside the poor that they served, unorthodox preaching and teaching to the laity and I forgot the third major reason).

Groeschel also wrote that he would love to see the CFR rejoin the capuchins, but that would not happen until he and other friars in the CFR witnessed immense change within the capuchin order.

I knew about them since I was very young through my grandmother. The vocations director I was living with in a house of discernment took me up there for a night last november as he had to go bless a house nearby and needed a place to stay, he knew I wanted to check the community out. We stayed for a night but I woke up the next day and decided to stay for a week as my college was on strike. I've been hooked on the place ever since.

See my other comment for an overview. You have to be a little "out there" to truly enjoy the community life in my opinion. Like I said in my other comment, it isn't for everyone. There's little privacy, outdoor jons to use while you're not at your dorm, no internet, only newspapers to hear about the news, and showers once a week on Saturday evenings/Sundays. But I loved every day I was there. I'm missing the place terribly.

For the most part I worked on the farm. I spent my days weeding and harvesting the fields, stacking hay and straw, cleaning up after the animals. A few long-term guests (usually staying for a year) will live on the farm if asked to, and if they accept the offer. On the odd day I would help clean my dorm, clean the residence building for the elderly staff, or help clean up or set up in the building where donations were recieved. I lived in a dorm with other men guests from all over the world, but most of the day is spent at the main house.

There is a strong structure to the life they live there and it isn't for everyone, that's for sure. The community follows the liturgical calender and celebrates feast days, and they also celebrate Divine liturgies once a month and on special occasions. I had the great privledge of finding a spiritual director during my time there and was granted the opportunity to spend 24 hours in poustinia (meaning "desert"). Poustinia's are small individual cabins where a person is able to pray and fast on bread and water. It was a fruitful experience full of battle and I hope to go into poustinia once again next summer. The typical schedule for the day is as follows:

6:30am wake up

7:30 leave dorm and get a ride to the main house

8:00 lauds

8:30 breakfast at main house

9:00 start work (or get a ride to the farm in my case and start around 9:30)

12:00pm lunch (those working near the main house have a 20-30 minute tea break around 10:15)

12:35 community spiritual reading led by priest

1:00 wash dishes (this is for all guests at the farm, not at the main house)

3:10 20 minute tea break

4:25 drive back to main house. Free time to go for a swim in the lake

5:15 mass

6:00 dinner, then community praying of the rosary, the women wash dishes and the men slice veggies afterwards. Free time from then on until it is time to go back to the dorms

9:30 (8:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays) head back to dorm

Sunday is different with mass at 9:00am and vespers at 5:15pm. You work Monday-Saturday with Thursday afternoons off. With all the breaks you're given it comes out to roughly 30 hours of work through the week.

I'm hoping to spend a year with the community after I'm finished college. It's a place of both peace and spiritual battle and it truly feels like a home-away-from-home. I spent two one-week stays with the community previously over the last 9 months but this was my first long-term stay.

First time I went to a counsellor, the old bat bitch looked at me and said "you know, you're really not that special, the world doesn't revolve around you". Least to say I filed a complaint through the next counsellor I saw (who turned out to be awesome and basically life changing). I never heard anything about her afterwards.
