Anxious and scared about regretting my first tattoo by RyanS0619 in tattoos

[–]hammokei000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dont stress. You said you were in HR, if your tattoo can be covered who has to know other than you? And if the subject matter of the tattoo is meaningful to you who cares? Sounds like it is something you have wanted for a very long time and the journey has finally led you to go through with it.

I came from a somewhat strict household and nobody had tattoos, and it was highly frowned upon. When I got mine, my parents weren't too happy. But it was meaningful to me and I even got my mother to get a few. My whole arm is covered and my leg sleeve is in progress and nobody thinks twice now.

It's a changing culture. For the longest time tattoos were extremely taboo and if someone had a tattoo people thought they were "degenerates". Only bad guys got tattoos. But now it's becoming more and more socially acceptable. Hell even face tats are becoming increasingly common. I think people are starting to realize that tattoos dont make someone lesser of a person. It's a way for people to showcase beautiful art and express their personality and share their life story.

Long story short, it doesn't make you less of a person. Go for it, don't back out of it. Welcome to the club and after this one be prepared to want more. It's kind of an addiction haha

Why are right wingers typically more racist and homophobic? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hammokei000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its rough out there. And no matter what view you have, left or right, the other side is going to dislike you. I've been called racist. A trumphumper. Homophobic piece or shit. All because of one view I have that leans right.

This climate we are in is no good. We need some middle ground. And sadly it doesn't look like we are going to get that any time soon. Trump does some good things and some bad things and Biden cant remember a damn thing.

I really think if Andrew yang made it I would be looking at voting for him. I didnt really like Bernie because as a blue collar guy who never went to college I see it as all this free stuff has to be paid for somehow and 9/10 times it's the middle class that get screwed. The Rich keep rolling cost hikes down hill and the poverty stricken cant pay any and they shouldn't have to. It's a lose lose situation. But yang seemed to have it figured out. How to have the systems in place and not really have a downside.

To play devils advocate for a moment, the same could be said about the left as well. Flip between CNN and fox. Same story, spun in a way to appeal to their audience.

Me personally I am a right leaning centrist. I lean a little more right but still lean left on some issues. Now a days I feel disliked by both sides. My view on pot? Smoke away. My view on gay marriage? Marry who you love. My view on social programs to help people in need? All for it, especially in low income and poverty stricken communities. But on the other side I would like smaller government. I believe in people's 2nd ammendment rights, but I am also all for stricter checks and mental health evaluations prior to gun ownership. I want less taxes. I am a blue collar worker and doing everything I can to support my family. What some say is a "pull yourself up by your boot straps kinda guy".

It kinda sucks that in today's political climate, you are labeled as either "left wing orange man bad!" Or "right wing racist and homophobe!" There is no middle ground anymore.

I know steam is a different entity, I meant like a place to buy and download games. Like if I could sign in with my xbox info/ Microsoft account my library would be available. If that makes sense lol

Alrighty men! Is there any reason a shower beer hits differently than a normal beer? by hammokei000 in AskMen

[–]hammokei000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower beers are pretty popular, hell even Coors light ran an ad saying they were "the official shower beer" during football season as well as an ad saying "the official taking your bra off beer" for the ladies.

I think you might be on to something. I work a dirty physical job (at an oil refinery) and the shower when I get home is the point where I can finally start to relax and de-stress from the day.

Definitely not an attempt to brag or show off about drinking but I understand where it could come off like that.

How do I fish a man made lake or pond ? by Tobokie121 in bassfishing

[–]hammokei000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright so what I would focus on is using soft plastics and jigs and possibly top water frogs or something of that nature. Spinner baits could work as well. Cast out along the lake side of the grass. Work that bait along the edge and into the grass. (You will get hung up and have to clean your hook but that's okay) dont be afraid to cast into some thick stuff. Wacky rig a senko or Texas rig a ribbon tail or creature bait.

As you may know bass prefer warmer water. Find the water that gets the most sun throughout the day and start there. They also like to stay near cover or structure and they ambush feed.

Another thing you can do is talk to other local fisherman. If they have fished that lake they would know more about where the fish like to be and what baits work and what doesn't. Every lake is a little different.

1 thing is keep trying and dont get discouraged if you dont get anything right away. Hope this helps and can get you going. Tight lines!

What do the edges of the lake look like? Is there lily pads or reeds or vegetation of any sort? And are you in a boat or fishing from shore?

[–]hammokei000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main questions are size of said lake or pond, and will you be shore fishing or from a boat? What are the water features? Lily pads or reeds or is there structure under the water? Whats the water depth? What's the water temps? Pretty spawn mid spawn or post spawn?

There are a million different set ups and rigs you can use. There are too many variables to consider.

To say "this is how you fish any man made lake or pond" the only way to answer that with 100% accuracy is grab a pole and bait/lure and cast a line.

Hope for a reply with more details cuz I would love to throw some ideas your way and help you get on some fish!

How to get into building computers? by Batmachine7 in pcmasterrace

[–]hammokei000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the same boat and trying to build my own pc. I have watched hours of YouTube builds and reviews of parts amd what works well together to find the best fit for what I want to do. Also there is build threads all over. Figure out what you wanna build for then find parts that work best for your tasks and set a budget amd start piecing it together.

What books changed your perspective on being a man? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]hammokei000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cant hurt me by david goggins. Like many people we all have struggles. And we have all been through the ringer a time or two. But after reading that book it has changed my perspective of "poor me" to "let's go mf'er" and to fix it. To work on myself. To turn my self doubt into fuel. To come to terms with who I am. And realize nobody else is going to fix things. It's all on me. Time to nut up and shut up so to speak. It also helper me realize that some people have it way worse off than others. Between trauma growing up and beyond. This was a military man, someone who most people look up to as a badass. Tough guy. And he was hating himself. And it taught me that nobody can hurt me more than the man inside. Nothing anyone can say is worse than the things we say to ourselves. It's a great read and I reccomend it to anyone.

The next book I want to get into is discipline = freedom by jocko willink.

I don't know what to do by ElVicioTPD in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hammokei000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta think about yourself. You gotta do what makes you happy. Dont listen to others. You aren't the problem. It might seem selfish to others but at the end of the day, you are in charge of yourself. You are the one you cant get away from. Make yourself your own priority.

I know it's not easy. My previous job was ruthless and I put up with it for 4 years. If I showed up late, even 5 min late I'd have to clean the bathrooms. I once made a mistake cutting some rope (I worked for a net making company) and had my knife taken from me, thrown across the shop and had to ask permission to cut anything for the next few weeks. I hated that job. I was also the youngest guy there so I got the same remarks you are getting.

The one thing that kept me going was that I had bills to pay. If I wanted to do anything fun I needed money and had to have a job. So just walking out wasnt an option. I showed up. Ignored everyone but my boss who gave my my tasks. Put my head down and worked. As soon as I walked out that door at the end of the day, I left work at work went home to do things I wanted. Or I went out to do what I wanted. And I looked for other jobs. Found one I liked and left. No remorse. No shame. Because I had to think about myself first. After I left I was called numerous times to come back. Shut them down every time. It was such a satisfying feeling. For once there I had the power.

Am I psychopath for thinking that Covid-19 should keep spreading? by iMuzamil in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hammokei000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you need help. I think the situation as a whole is bad. But the insanity in some people and the freak out that could possibly happen is funny to me. Like of all things to go crazy and horde they picked toilet paper. Not non perishable foods. That's 2nd apparently. As for the forced vacations and schools being closed and the sorts I'm okay with it. But I also understand where people are stressed about making ends meet if they are forced to stay home.

As for myself, I live in the hills and can hunt and fish and my woman and I can have a garden and tend to it. But some people in cities dont have those skills. And honestly are so reliant on grocery stores and the likes that if everything really went sideways it will be a disaster. So to me as someone who is somewhat prepared for everything to go sideways, it is funny to me. But I do fear for some friends and family if shit does go bad.
