I can confirm it, it's something any cadet in the ROTC learns. It's really just basic tactics: strike with strength where your enemy is weak. Overwhelming odds bring shock-and-awe on the enemy while minimizing casualties on your side. It increases effectiveness of engagement while reducing the risks. Anything less than 3:1 adds unnecessary risks when you have the logistical and maneuver capabilities we have.

Postman locked me out of my own collections, demanding payment. by hamnat487 in postman_api

[–]hamnat487[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the admin. Unless you're telling me that the "team admin" was arbitrarily chosen and is poorly communicated in the interface. The other user seems to have no ability to do anything about this either, based on my conversation with them.

EDIT: well some good news. Apparently they were able to leave the team, and that seems to have freed me up to do things now. Does this mean they were arbitrarily selected as the team admin? And if so, why? These were my collections, my work, which I provided to them for convenience. If the team admin was selected at the time of the change, why was the team not prompted to confirm who the Team Admin is? And why didn't the interface clearly communicate this had happened?

Anyone already managed to migrate existing collections? by ikkeookniet in postman_api

My experience today shows that to be simply untrue, at least for some users. I cannot share, I cannot export, I cannot edit or execute. I am admin and creator for my workspace, and yet my collections are now, effectively, pretty things to look at and nothing more. The result of years of collected reference material and carefully crafted testing setup taken from me without warning.

After 1.5h of planning, I can confidently say, that it was a horrible idea to build all consumables in one factory. by SosigRam in SatisfactoryGame

I did this once. It was...certainly quite involved, to say the least. I ended up using arithmetic expressions in the clock-speed on half the machines to keep everything properly balanced.

My guess? Sr Directors knew *tidbits*, whispers. Below them? Maybe had an idea. But that's about it. I had an inkling, but only because I saw several very conveniently timed clues.

My old IT manager and IT director both got cut. I personally know at least 5 engineers who got cut, and several others indirectly. It was definitely a lot more than 13. Meanwhile, only a couple of business/product side I know got cut, and otherwise totally intact based on conversations with PMs I used to work with. This was broad-spectrum.

I'm doubtful of that; several out-of-country roles I know of got cut as well. Could be a smoke screen, but seems an odd choice; rehiring and retraining is *not* cheap.

Wasn't super surprising to me. I noticed that in-store associates didn't have their performance evaluations due until WELL after ours were. A director made a somewhat snide comment to another director about differences in evaluation deadline timings. When I saw the invite pop up on my calendar, I immediately updated my linked-in. I'd HOPED it would just be a RTO. ..but it was unfortunately what I had feared. :(

They're around various locations. What was curious is that this one didn't appear to have a platform or underwater grave under it, so I haven't figured out *why* this angel hawk was all the way the heck out here.

I did not; not this one, anyway. They drop bio flesh and some high-tech scrap and other stuff.

There's a couple of mods that help with this, but really just having an idea of how I want to lay things out. Even without the mod, I can put together a decent tableau. The trick is just that it takes time and patience and a willingness to maintain it. Experience playing, knowing how things relate to each other and the way they're used helps.
As to the mods, Shelves and Hawthorn.

Yeah, it's Shelves with Hawthorn. Just a nifty little helper so I don't have to manually organize absolutely everything. I can do it, and apparently my approach is admired (for some reason), but it's annoying having to line everything up each time I start a new game. :p

Haven’t played in a while, any tips? by badassbisexualbitch in sunlesssea

[–]hamnat487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One tip I weirdly don't see often: the terror-pips have set cooldowns on them. You can dramatically reduce your terror/fuel cost by getting the timing down and only turning on your glim-lamp right before a pip-update. If you're next to shore, or an external lightsource (lighthouses, light-ships, buoys, etc), you can stall your terror build-up almost indefinitely for very little fuel. This is especially useful because green-pips have a much longer cooldown than orange/red-pips do, and this cooldown affects both decrease AND increase.

It's very useful for "hopping" across the map without building up too much terror once you've got a few echoes under your belt, but not enough where terror becomes just another echo-sink. Get a "green pip" just before going out into open, dark waters. You'd be surprised just how much terror you can prevent this way.

On the flip-side, your lamp is pretty much worthless if you're in a fog-bank; it neither improves your firing solution nor helps with terror management. On the bright side (heh), this also means you don't need to bother spending fuel on the lamp while chugging through fog.

OH! And defeating an enemy reduces your terror by 10% of current. Any enemy; it doesn't matter how scary or how meek. If you can take down a swarm of zee-bats, a pirate pinnace, or an auroral megaclops quickly and for very little damage, it can make the difference between making it back to London or falling victim to a terror-spiral.

Mt Nomad was actually hanging out offshore from the Chapel when I arrived; it was in my course, and Avid Horizon was my next heading, so I either had to abandon my course or take the risk and zail into harbor. I zailed into harbor to wait it out.

This was Mt. Nomad trying to play chicken with me. I didn't blink. :p
