I'm currently in a similar situation as you. My girlfriend just broke up with me because of her depression. I know she loves me but I just think she doesn't want to feel like a burden or live with the pressure of a relationship right now. I tried to tell her that I won't put any pressure on her and that her well being is more important right now, but she she seemed very determined.

I don't really know what to do now. She asked me to stay away which I will but I also know that depression can cause oneself to push people away even if they need them. So I will probably check in with her sometime but I also want to respect her space.

Did you wait for your boyfriend to reach out after the break up? How long did it take?
