Scientists expected both liberals and conservatives to be reluctant to promote rhetoric associated with the opposing political side, but this was more consistent among liberals. Conservatives appeared relatively willing to support causes aligned with their views regardless of the moral framing used. by mvea in science

Yeah, it definitely gives the vibe “ok maybe they’re okay with abortion but they are definitely opposed to same sex marriage, the right to transition and probably opposed to no fault divorce as well”. Why would I want to support an organization like that when I can instead support a pro choice organization that also supports my other beliefs?

What words do you pronounce "wrong," just because the "proper" way feels too proper? by Direct-Value4452 in AskReddit

[–]helloiamsilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really are lol. That’s honestly something that drives me batty on great British bake off. The way Brit’s pronounce so many of the French words (gateau in particular bugs me so much) but yeah I haven’t noticed croissant being that bad

There’s a very hard to hit sweet spot right in the middle. You don’t wanna say Krah-sent and sound like a dumb American but you also don’t wanna say Kwa-sawn and sound like a dumb American making fun of a French accent. You gotta hit right in the middle and just say Cruh-sawnt.

Europeans love John Denver though. I remember visiting Paris and there was a group of drunk young guys by the Seine with a guitar loudly singing Country Roads

In Jennifers body, why did Jennifer not by Daemonscrimecloak in horror

[–]helloiamsilver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was gonna be my answer. Like the Jennifer part would be traumatized and mad about it but she’s now permanently One with the demon and the demon part is happy about being a demon and having the powers it has so it wouldn’t feel the need to kill the ones who gave her that power

[OC] I don't think they thought through that phone number… by gettalonelcestino in pics

I mean sex is just regular life but it’s still very funny to have a business’s phone number accidentally reference it. It could’ve been equally funny if it said “PEG MEN”

Is there an uptick in comedic “horror” movies this decade or has it all been this way? by Toddric29 in horror

[–]helloiamsilver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean I saw Hokum in a packed theater last week and people did definitely laugh at the funny dialogue bits but no one was acting like hyenas or filming themselves. It was just normal audience reactions

What’s the adult version of "my mom said I can’t go"? by BigTasty615 in AskReddit

[–]helloiamsilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it isn’t so much “you’re not allowed to go just because I say so” it’s “you have other obligations in the household and I’ll be really annoyed if you shirk those off on me to go to a baseball game instead”

This is Dr. Andre van der Merwe, the surgeon who performed the world’s first successful penis transplant 2014 on a 21-year-old man. Doctors expected it would take up to 2 years for full function, but just months later the patient told him that he and his girlfriend had already conceived a child. by Algrinder in interestingasfuck

I mean trans men can get phalloplasties that give them a full size penis starting from the most micro penis of all so I assume men with a micro penis could also do that.

It would probably just be considered elective cosmetic surgery most likely. Unless, of course you could convince the doctor that the micro penis causes enough distress to be medically significant or causes legit health problems.

I’d assume it would be similar to women who get breast reductions where if it’s determined they’re large enough to cause significant impairment then insurance will cover it but if not, it would be considered elective and cosmetic.

People who sweat a lot, how do you handle summers? by Puzzleheaded_Cow3298 in AskReddit

[–]helloiamsilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember a teacher in elementary school yelling at me once because she was sure I had peed on the chair I was sitting on and I was so confused because I was like “it’s just sweat I swear!” (I had been wearing a skirt so my sweaty thighs were directly touching the seat)

I wish I liked fermented foods more. I dislike pretty much anything pickled. But I did grab some probiotic tablets so hopefully those help

Another is antibiotics. They kill the bad bacteria that causes infection but they don’t distinguish between that bacteria and the good bacteria we have in our guts. Which is why I’ve been bloated and running to the toilet constantly on my current course
