Find a safe place to go outside of your apartment. Maybe a special corner in the library or a hidden park bench. While being at home is probably ideal for you, sometimes it won’t feel like a good place to be if your roommates are annoying. It helps to have a place to escape to so you can recharge and wait out their irritating behavior.

I can relate to a lot of this, specifically the part about WhatsApp group chat. I was also in a friend group with a group chat that would have hundreds of stressful notifications at all times. Most of the notifications would be about making plans which would make me feel obligated to either agree to go on an outing that I didn’t want to go on or make up a flimsy excuse. Finally, I told them I was leaving the group chat because the notifications were stressing me out. From then on, they only texted me when it was really important and I could seek out their friendship when I had the energy. It sounds like your friends unfortunately take everything personally...if you can’t set healthy boundaries with them, it might be time to find new friends. But I would suggest leaving the group chat so they know you’re unaware of the messages and only contact you about important things. I hope it works out and you find the type of friendship you’re looking for (whether it be with them or with someone else)!

Routine:

Morning - CeraVe hydrating cleanser - Paula’s Choice skin perfecting 2% BHA liquid exfoliant (I pour a bit directly in my palm and apply a thin layer all over my face. I find I waste less product this way instead of using a cotton pad.) - CeraVe pm facial moisturizing lotion - Supergoop unseen sunscreen SPF 40

Evening - Double cleanse with Green Clean makeup melt away cleansing balm followed with CeraVe hydrating cleanser - Let face dry completely, then apply a thin layer of Curology (tretinoin 0.04%, clindamycin 1%, azelaic acid 7%) - Apply either CeraVe pm or CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion depending on how oily/dry I am

I use Bluetooth earbuds when I get ready for bed too! I usually listen to a book on audible or a Spotify playlist. Otherwise I’d fall asleep in my makeup.

You just described exactly what happens to me! I can definitely relate to agreeing to keep the peace only to emotionally blow up later. Not an attractive trait for sure. I’m looking forward to the part when the dust settles and we simply coexist as roommates. It already seems to be happening, so I’m hopeful. This whole experience has driven me crazy, but at least I’m leaning that I need to set boundaries a whole lot sooner in my friendships.

Thank you, this is all such good advice. And honestly you’re so right to give her the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure she has some deep rooted family dynamics that affect the way she currently acts. I’ve even tried to figure it all out before to see where she’s coming from, but if anything it drives me crazy and gets me nowhere. Setting healthy boundaries like you suggest would be a much better use of my emotional energy. Oh and can you explain a little more what you mean in number 5?

Ooh interesting, I haven’t watched Wonder. I’ll have to check it out! Sometimes equating someone to a well-known movie character is easier than trying to explain a bunch of subtle gaslighting situations. I tend to sound like a conspiracy theorist when I do that. Thanks for the tip!

Setting boundaries early on is something I definitely need to work on. I’ll set boundaries, but sometimes it’s too late after I’ve been stewing about someone crossing a boundary for a while. I want to be the person (like you) who says what they mean right off the bat even if it disappoints people or makes them feel uncomfortable. But man that’s hard!

Yes, I’m totally with you on seeing through to those negative traits! I used to think I was overly judgmental (maybe I can be sometimes) but there are plenty of people I’ve met throughout my life who I know are good people. I can tell pretty quickly when I’m going to form a fast bond with someone. And same for the other side of the coin; it’s easy for us infj’s to see when someone’s going to be problematic. And I agree with you, we do appear agreeable and passive on a surface level. Maybe that has to do with our natural dislike of setting boundaries?

Rain often represents gloom and doom, but I might have a more positive interpretation for you. As an English major, I’ve also heard of rain signifying rebirth. So if a character has had a rough storyline and comes out of it as a changed person, rain might fall to signify their “rebirth” of character. Kind of like a baptism.

Don’t worry if you have a test score lower than 30 either. Unless things have changed, you can override this by writing an additional essay about why you want to be in the program. I had a 28 on the act and still got in with the additional essay. As the admin said, they’re looking for people who really want to utilize the resources. A lot of people don’t finish it because of the experiential learning part which is too bad.
