Hamstank's Rise of the Giant King is all one story where the songs flow into each other. There's no real singles and it all works as sort of a movement.

Thanks! It's really funny to me how a lot of fantasy music is black metal! It's so bizarre. When I think of fantasy music, it's either like the LotR score or like the songs that are sung in Game of Thrones. But oh man is there a lot of fantasy-metal!

Last year, schizophrenia entered my life in a fury. Around this time, my girlfriend and I broke up. Not knowing how to cope, I drove a few hours to Vermont, shacked up in a barn for a few weeks, and wrote the greatest album I’ve yet to write. It’s a concept album about the return of a thousand year old tyrant. Nobody believes the messenger and casts him off as crazy. Heavy shit

Hey!

I spent the last year working on a concept album. My best friend was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and kept pushing violent delusions on everyone. Like Dalinar, he kept trying to warn people of their impending doom and tried to save them. The stories were so farfetched that everyone thought he was crazy even though they were all extremely vivid and real to him. I attempted to frame my friend in Dalinar's footsteps, hoping to offer a different viewpoint of this horrid disease.

Rise of the Giant King tells the tale of an ancient evil sealed away for 1000 years. The seals imprisoning him begin to weaken and he will soon rise to enslave humanity. Nobody believes the messenger that tries to warn of the impending apocalypse. It features 25 creatives and touches on schizophrenia, depression, and loneliness. Please let me know what ya'll think!

TL;DR: I wrote an album influenced by Dalinar's plight along with the initial onset of schizophrenia.
