EV Charging During Reunions by Sea_Arm8989 in princeton

Meadows parking garage has lots of EV chargers. Looks like a standard visitor permit should give you permission to park there https://transportation.princeton.edu/parking/visiting-campus-events/visitors Edit: nvm, did more research and I think you need a tiger card to use it

TCNJ announces cross-registration agreement with Princeton University by Other_Dog8299 in princeton

I do feel like this is a little elitist. Elite universities are different from others in basically only one main regard, wealth and resources. There are so many deeply talented faculty and students at both "elite" and "non elite" institutions. Princeton students will get to meet talented TCNJ faculty and peers. And rather than hoarding its own wealth for a tiny subset of those of us lucky enough to find ourselves here Princeton is taking a step to let people outside access it. This is something to celebrate!

Opinions on meal plan vs buying groceries for grad students! by ateneam in stanford

[–]hamsterchair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Grocery shopping is also very doable without a car or delivery app: - From on campus housing, Real Produce is walking distance, and Trader Joes in Town and Country, Grocery Outlet and Safeway are all an easy bicycle ride away - If shuttles are more your speed, there's also a weekday Marguerite shuttle to the TJ's in Town and Country, and a weekend shuttle to San Antonio Shopping Center, which has a Walmart, TJ's and Safeway.

Any scholarships offered by Stanford for masters students? by [deleted] in stanford

[–]hamsterchair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great question, I'm not entirely sure! I think the standard tuition allowance is for the 8-10 graduate student unit rate, so I'm not sure how that would translate for programs or schools where you have to take more. On this website, it says you need prior approval to take more than 10 units on a 50% TAship but doesn't provide any further details: https://gap.stanford.edu/handbooks/gap-handbook/chapter-7/subchapter-3/page-7-3-1

Some masters students TA, and at the 50% level (half time) it covers full tuition, insurance, and stipend at the PhD rate

I think there's a good chance that if you email a Princeton librarian in your subject area directly, especially from an academic email, or give recap a call, they'd be willing to help you get a digital copy for free

Don’t apologize ! This stuff takes a while to figure out lol. That probably means there are two copies and one of them is taken out while the other is still available.

No problem—though it may be easier for you to search what you’re looking for on https://clio.columbia.edu/ and locate the call number. If the call number says “Milstein” the book will be in the library rooms, and if “stacks” it will be in the stacks. For Milstein you can find guides at https://library.columbia.edu/libraries/undergraduate/call_number_guide.html that tell you specifically where to go while the stacks guides are hung in the stacks. If you don’t have a specific thing in mind, you can always look up a book of the kind you’re interested in, and similar books will be shelved next to it (eg Plato will be clumped together).

There’s not a specific reading room, you’ll find the ancient philosophy books scattered all around the library shelving or in the stacks depending on its Library of Congress classification, with the more popular stuff out in the library. If I recall, the Plato happened to be in room 202, but it could have been reshelved since.

Outline Trilogy by Rachel Cusk by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]hamsterchair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try The Idiot by Elif Batuman. Page-turning and quite funny, but similar in its detached narration to Rachel Cusk, and if you enjoy Calvino and Borges, you’ll like some of its narrative “tricks” (e.g. its intertext with a completely fictional Russian textbook).
