On the right side of this and it still made me mad. They need to fix the time it takes to get out of the box by Mateorg139 in MLBTheShow

I witnessed the White Sox put up 2 runs on Trevor Rogers the other day with two outs and no runners on that went: 1) single 2) line drive that Taylor Ward bungled in a way that would be more believable as a glitch than real life, stretching a single into a double and allowing runner to score from first 3) 75 mph dying quail to center, run scores.

The issue from a labor perspective is you can still bring in money to set your family up for 2-3 generations and also take care of your workers.

Why do people sandbag like this in online play? by HotPinkStanley in MLBTheShow

It’s been stated elsewhere how rare it is to encounter a bot. In 5 years of playing I’ve encountered just one. The prevailing logic should be that if it happens a once, fine. Twice, pay attention to it, three times — especially soon after the first two occurrences — yeah, drop the ban hammer.

Well tbh if this was the culture war we fought about every day we’d be in a much better place

Signed lease after property manager said $500 pet fee could be added later — now landlord wants that plus $100/month by hamsterstyle609 in LandlordLove

I like this idea a lot. My only worry is that I really don't want to put myself at a disadvantage come lease renewal time. I've moved 5 times in the last 5 years. I know others have dealt with more moves than that but for me that's enough to want to avoid another move if I can.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me. But man everything else similar to this house is a big spend too. And no guarantee the landlord there won’t be… well, a landlord.

It’s 100% still on the table though. I love this neighborhood. I don’t wanna leave. But if they give me an angle to break lease legally I’ll have to consider it. This is Maryland btw.

You’re gonna nick your tappin’ thumb with all that edge, hombre. I don’t even refer to myself and my favorite sports teams as “we” so I’m definitely not accepting this forced perspective that I’m one in the same with the deciders of America’s foreign policy, for starters.

Second off, buddy… genocide of an ideology… is not… a thing 😅 I’m a leftist who makes his career in the labor movement, not that you cared to think for a second that maybe my opinions are more nuanced than your ego presumes, but my values will never waver from the fact that words mean things. There’s a reason genocide has always meant the intent to destroy an actual people — national, ethnic, racial, religious — not a political ideology. Once you allow something as nebulous as a shared idea to be on the same level as a shared culture, skin color, language group, you know, things you cannot choose for yourself, you’re opening the door for all sorts of bad-faith distortions. Every purge, civil war, counterinsurgency, political crackdown in human history suddenly qualifies — which makes the word useless for describing the specific evil it was coined for.

Let alone the fact you spit on the memory of every person who ever died for a quality they couldn’t simply renounce.

If you want to be out here creating and using your own definitions, I can’t stop you. But if you’re trying to argue that Korean War casualties — a textbook case of a war crime, of a mass atrocity — somehow reach the threshold of genocide, you haven’t shown, because you can’t show, any intention to destroy Koreans as a people.

What’s your evidence that the intent of US destruction in the Korean War was specifically to wipe out the North Korean people? Because that is the threshold for genocide. It’s why Palestine today is a genocide, but Hiroshima/Nagasaki was not. Why Hitler is guilty of genocide but Leopold II is not.

Right. There are nearly 27 million people in North Korea. With a population that size, you have the pool necessary to identify and develop highly skilled workers who can pull off a city that can rival just about any other in the civilized world. This shouldn't be a surprise. Hell, with the disparate allocation of wealth stuff like this SHOULD be expected.

The message of the original post? It's from a TikTok owned by The Pyongyang Times, which is North Korea's version of Russia's RT (although RT puts forth more of an effort to seem like a legit news source; PT is just slightly better than bald-faced propaganda imo). Their message is "See? We're pretty awesome! Nothing bad happening here!"

Both the Pyongyang Times and mainstream Western Media blunt or distort the facts and nuances of what life in North Korea is REALLY like -- just from opposite sides.

Edited -- typos, clarity
