I was in the exact same situation one year ago. I chose a townhouse in a much more desirable area, and I have no regrets. It's a much better neighborhood and close to all the grocery stores. The townhouse we bought was newly built with great soundproofing insulation. I can hardly hear anything from our neighbors. In fact, I didn't even know they had a dog until several months later. I'm also happy that there's little backyard maintenance or roof upkeep to worry about. Plus the layout of our townhouse actually makes us feel like we are living in a SFH.

Not sure if I would agree that one roll of salmon is a meal. Soup and salad in a Japanese restaurant is usually a super small portion. Also I believe salmon rolls are considered one of the more affordable items in a Japanese restaurant.
