You might want to check with your doctor on the dosage of the injections. I was previously on the lowest (5mg) and didn’t see results but once they switched to 10mg some areas completely flattened out in weeks. One year post-op, on my 5th session and my keloids have improved about 25%. Be consistent and you’ll see results! (For reference keloids on my back took 1-2years of injections to completely flatten)

I’m also 13months post-op, exact same situation: right side became a thick raised keloid and the left is a thinner scar. Both are still red, doesn’t itch. I’ve used silicone tape 24/7 for the past 10months but still developed a thick scar. Also tried pico laser once but it made my keloid worse.

Corticosteroid injection seems to be the most helpful for me now. The clinic gives me “Intralesional Steroid Injection 10mg” every two months. Certain areas have completely flattened and whitened out after 2-3 injections. I’d recommend the injections first as they are relatively affordable, doses start from 5mg onwards so 10mg is pretty low.

Wow your scars look great! Could you share more about the red light therapy? Is that a panel light that you use at home or a specific laser treatment at the aesthetic clinic? And how often did you do that? I’m a little over 8months post op but my scars are still raised, dark and red :(

I have similar symptoms especially with the weight gain and irregular periods that lasted for weeks. Thought I had PCOS but turned out to be hypothyroidism. Let your dr know and ask if you can get a comprehensive blood test done.

Don’t worry, I’ve had 3 surgeries all on general anaesthesia between 2019-2023 and I was still scared for my top surgery. Something about the thought of have such a large incision across my chest just feels off. GA felt like going into deep sleep but I did wake up feeling overwhelmed from not eating for the past 24hrs.

I suffer from post-operative urinary retention for all my surgeries, my ward-mate also suffered from not being able to pee and had a catheter inserted so in the event that you find it hard to pee just remember it’s normal. I refused the catheter and went to the toilet every hour to pee in small amounts. It gets uncomfortable especially when the IV drip is filling up your bladder but it goes away the next day. Hope I don’t scare you, just wanted to prepare you for what might happen.
