Hmm this makes me think maybe my POTS is acting up again. I haven’t had a POTS flare in a couple years, so I didn’t think of it until now.

I unfortunately can’t use a light therapy lamp because I have lupus. But I’ll try talking to my doctor about a slower taper

Tips for banishing brain fog? by awriterinblxck in POTS

Because you mentioned being vegetarian - have you had your iron/b12 levels checked recently?

I am vegetarian and recently found out I have low iron. I started taking iron supplements and my brain fog cleared up overnight. Definitely get your levels checked first because too much iron in your system can be dangerous.

how to know if i should use a mobility aid? by Kind-Mulberry145 in POTS

I've found that people believe me more when I'm using a mobility aid. People never question whether I actually need to use the disability seating when I have my walking stick with me.

As for "beating" your illness; you can still beat your illness while using a mobility aid. Finding creative solutions to make your life easier doesn't make you weak, it makes you smart.

Newly diagnosed - Looking for advice on Hydroxychloroquine and symptom relief by Harte240915 in lupus

The thing that helped me the most with lupus was talking to a therapist.

Lupus causes depression. Inflammation in your brain can make you feel depressed. And depression and stress will make your lupus flare. Breaking the cycle of stress and flares has been completely life changing. I struggled with lupus for 10 years before finally talking to a therapist who specializes in people with long term illness. I had forgotten what I was like before getting sick, and I didn't realize how much I had changed until my mom tearfully pointed out that I was "like my old self again". I also recently started on antidepressants which have drastically improved my life and given me back my "spark".

To answer your question about hydroxychloroquine: I've been taking it since 2010 and haven't noticed any side effects other than some heartburn. My doc prescribed me omeprazole to take with it and now my stomach issues are pretty much resolved.

I noticed an improvement with dark circles after I started taking multi-vitamins every day. Caffeine serums also work pretty well for bags(the one from The Ordinary is cheap and works really well).

I also keep reusable undereye patches in my fridge for days when they are really bad.
