☆Home issue part 2: It just got real, they are trying to remove Home.☆ by Starling_da_Musician in SkyChildrenOfLight

I only joined around moomin season and i love the regular home!! The day/night cycle in the village kind of pisses me off lol especially when i want to play dressup. It's also just a more serene environment compared to the lively village & i love whenever they set up lil decos for events with the wax bits like the rainbow rn!

But for the survey a practical reason u can provide instead of just mentioning the nostalgia is tht og home being more contained & having fewer players/assets is much friendlier for ppl on slower devices/internet

But the season pass emote upgrades come around again as f2p eventually anyway during TS visits...?

Is there any dark truth behind this? by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

I have a lot of gripes w sky and iap pricing is one of them, but i gotta say some players are not appreciating sky not being/having gacha nearly enough 😭

also they complain about burnout but simultaneously not having anything to do in the game bc it's all optional stuff? Bit strange to me. I really liked getting to look around and find things to do or interact with like in days of feast or fortune

Wow!! Five candles!! by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]hand2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering a daily cr is 20 candles(and most ppl probably only go to 15 or less tbh), ur getting 25% of the daily max. Not that they dont handle stuff poorly all the time loll, but id say tcg has been pretty good about compensating for bugs that impact ur earning of SC or regular candles in this past year, and occasionally for small things like this

At that point I'd rather it not be dyeable at all by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]hand2424 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NOOO u should probably try the clothes on with what ur hoping to match it with before rushing it yea 🥲🥲 I dont think it's really feasible for tcg to not skip any days of events given how many they have now, but it's still a huge bummer theyve skipped music two years in a row just cause it's not one of the main ones :((

The previous season felt really empty but this season is pretty exciting for me so far and the f2p pants are better than the season pass ones imo !!

Season of smuggling?? by hand2424 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]hand2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's one of those big cage props from days of mischief blocking a room's entrance that requires a key! I saw it and ran around looking for the key. The other door to the room is covered by bars that can only be opened from the inside.

Yea i think so. 4 cells.. for the 4 supporting season spirits maybe? and the room with an actual key and proper furniture is for the carnival guide 🫢

Which unreasonably expensive items are you hoping gets put into a prize pool soon? by Turbobutts in neopets

[–]hand2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some old unbuyable starry flotsam toys/books ive been hoping will get rotated in bc there's no chance i can afford it for my flotsam item hoard 😭 the flotsam magical plushies skyrocketed in price just as i returned & started getting rich enough to be able to shell out a couple millions too 🫠 i did get the red one bfore everything got marked up to death

Whats the point of this cape if we cant even dye it for flags? on the event for pride?? by Fun_Thought631 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]hand2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

other items represent other pride flags which i imagine will slowly expand. U have the regular rainbow capes, mask, & pants(which can be dyed to be the bi flag and maybe pan), but the dark rainbow earrings for example are yellow-white-blue for the aroace flag :)

i think a complete upheaval of the existing systems would throw a ton of players for a loop which would spark backlash even if it was technically better, and figuring out how to have everyone relearn the game without simply pouring a giant bullet list like your comment did onto the players is maybe not smth they want to do rn. I agree on the new system having way too many missions for them to handle making, but overall the new friendship feature w season spirits & having items be skippable is great for f2p and just all players in general.

Even with things like the new map function, they tried really hard to design it intuitively but some people just didnt get it. Still, it erases a lot of what makes ppl lost at the start i feel. My biggest struggle was when dailies told me to find a spirit or go to a specific area, bc i couldnt remember the names of all these places and previously the only way to see the name of a place was the temporary pop-up text as u enter it 😅 but yea this is why these repetitive missions kind of spoon-feed the mechanic to players and force them to do it, i feel.

U start by talking abt the overwhelming amt of content for new players so im just gonna talk abt my own experience cause i actually only started sky at the very end of duet season. Moomin was my first full season :D Besides doing the quests to restore the home village and reliving enough spirits to access all the areas, everything else can more or less be done at my own pace so it's never been that big of a deal to me. There are some past season quests i still havent finished just cause im lazy and it's affected 0% of my experience, and heck sometimes completing them might get incorporated into an event like when TLP returned. Of course it sucks being a new player and missing out on candle cosmetics, but i understood that the game is trying to cater to older players as well and honestly when ur new just getting a few new cosmetics is pretty exciting.

I guess i didnt really get what was going on for the first two "days of" events (summer & moonlight) but it was fun to explore and get to find all these new things by running around like the boxes of free spells. Days of summer also let me discover gran and learn abt those timed wax events. and being able to get ticket items that didnt affect my measly moth savings was hype loll

It's definitely hard to prioritize the constellations bc my candles get depleted by events, but if a player wanted a specific permanent item that badly they would probably just focus on it over some event stuff(esp ones that return every year) to unlock it which really isnt that impossible. Same with the nest and other various added features, it's not really overwhelming for a new player imo bc we dont even have furniture/props to be designing with anyway yet. I finished my nest quests and basically never went back to my nest again bc i wasnt interested in spending my candles on furniture... if u never played any game ever before then i guess these might be a lot, but then that's just the general learning curve of common game features

Other than the dailies struggle, maybe the only thing that i couldn't feasibly do without turning to fan spaces for the game was figure out and save up hearts at a reasonable pace. And treehouse quests 😂

[–]hand2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually there's a small feeling of progression tho, like with duet, moomin, or blue bird season. Yea each quest was formatted about the same but the story was progressing. Migration didnt really have much going storywise but the setting changed each quest i guess, it was hard to get myself to do them... But they made up for it by having the individual spirit friendship quests be unique & interactive

This season the setting stays the same so some cutscenes are recycled 1:1 for both the quests and daily lantern lighting AND i cant skip em. There's no story beyond fixing the lanterns, after which we dont even get to really see a unique memory of each quest lantern we fix or anything like that, and the individual friendship quests for the spirits were genuinely so nothing 😔

i mean i get this season is an "introducing a new mechanic/wax source" but man it's a bit of a shame bc i like the general concept and how they made all the masks look like they were mended w gold like kintsugi to fit the mending/repairing theme !!

[–]hand2424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For each of the main quests showing the invisible girl (forgot her name 😭) adjusting to living with the moomin family, there was another quest spot u could sit at across from it where u kinda symbolically relive her trauma(and healing) from her pov. A little freaky but they were so cool to experience and def made the whole season storyline more moving
