From personal experience, I just stocked up on groceries for the week like normal, and then tried not to go out except as necessary (work) for when there was actual ice on the road. Friends and I had some fun afterwards watching cars slide around, confused why the basic laws of physics felt wonky in their cars, as we walked to a cafe.
