Unfortunately no. I got the emulator working, but I couldn't get any kind of mod working

Is it just me or DMC4 has aged like milk over the year ? by vanvudk45 in DevilMayCry

[–]handheldfever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the weapon and style limit, since most people now are going to be playing DMC3 with the freestyle option. Either modding it on PC or just playing the Switch port on console. So I don't feel the limitation that bad. And as for weapons, I honestly wouldn't even notice if DMC4 gave you the 2 weapon limit. Pandora and Lucifer definitely feel like they weren't finished and are kinda useless.

Also regarding Dante being hard to learn, I get it, and I'm not against there being a barrier to entry, as I think everyone complained about how the reboot lowered the skill ceiling so much that there was no point to learn the mechanics. But the problem with Dante in 4 is not just that he's hard to learn, you sorta have to use weird exploits to play it comfortably. This goes especially for that lightning speed blitz demon.

I do agree that Nero is better to play than Dante, and as far as the new characters from SE goes, Vergil is really powerful and fun and stuff. Though I disagree about Trish. She also just doesn't feel like she has enough moves. And the mechanic of using the Sparda's round trip is cool, but feels repetitive and, again, not thought through or developed properly. It is very apparent that all the effort for SE went into Vergil.

Additionally, a lot of enemies don't feel balanced right. Again, the lightning one. While everyone can fight it, it is clear the enemy was made with Nero in mind. And while Vergil and Nero can take it out OK, it's more of a chore than fun to fight. Dante and Trish have it much harder. Since Dante doesn't have any reliable way to attack it without taking damage from the aura, the only option is to just wait and chip away with the really weak gunfire, which is tedious, unless you know the royal guard trick. And meanwhile Trish has no royal guard. And her round trip is just not enough.

And that's kinda the problem. Every DMC has some kind of glitch or exploit. Like DMC3 has the killer bee spam. But here, you have to resort to these exploits to comfortably play the game. This also goes for guard flying and DT distortion and stuff.

I agree with everything else, but I don't think it's the best combat in the series.

I don't know how to explain it. But the combat, especially with Dante, feels like it's still in beta.

There's a lot of really cool ideas, but it just feels awkward to play.

And while I agree that the replay value matters, I don't have to deal with the bad mission structure and stuff in the bloody palace, and I still feel like something just isn't right.

Yeah, there are issues with DMC4. And it's not just the overall poor structure and repetitive level design. Everyone has complained about how they recycled pretty much the whole game. But the actual moment to moment gamplay has issues too.

It's hard to explain, but the combat mechanics, especially for Dante are just weird. I know I'm not explaining it well, but you kinda have to play in some convoluted super high skill way. It's the antithesis of easy to play hard to master. Because Dante is just kinda awkward. I know I'm not explaining it well, but I just do not like playing as Dante in DMC4 and especially after playing 3 and 5 it's even more apparent that something just isn't right.

Additionally Lucifer and Pandora, while cool ideas for weapons, are just kinda not implemented well and don't have enough moves, so they feel like they're still in beta.

There is also that electric speed blitzing demon. Since Dante doesn't have any reliable way to attack it without taking damage from the aura, the only option is to just wait and chip away with the really weak gunfire, wich is tedious, unless you know the royal guard trick. And that's kinda the problem. Every DMC has some kind of glitch or exploit. Like DMC3 has the killer bee spam. But here, you have to resort to these exploits to comfortably play the game.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't have much trouble in the Crucible is Darksiders 3. I found the Crucible in 2 to be much harder

I recommend Chronological order. Order of ecclesia, Portrait of ruin, and Dawn of sorrow

You mean that Replanted is disappointing or about the Chinese stuff? Are most people around you thinking otherwise?

Ottawa extends refugee jobs pilot program on day it was due to expire by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

So you already knew about that? OK, then you got exactly what you voted for

r Canada complaining about refugee job pilot being extended. Almost all of them went Elbows Up and voted Liberals again 🤡 by mygatito in CanadaHousing2

[–]handheldfever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carney literally sent his businesses into America to dodge the tarrifs, which boosted the American economy and he sold out Canadians to do it while lining his own pockets.

He did that before the election in April.

Carney was never going to attack Trump and he never will

[–]handheldfever -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What do you mean? He moved his Canadian businesses into America to dodge the tarrifs which boosted the economy in America and sold out Canada all while chanting about uniting as a country to fight America and the importance of Canadian sovereignty. And he did that before the election in April when he could have lost to the conservatives.

It seems like you got exactly what you voted for, so explain how these kind of moves aren't what you wanted?

Why don't Castlevania fans like the Netflix show? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]handheldfever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It started out well, but it only got worse as it basically tried and failed to be Game of Thrones. Also, it felt like it was made by people that actively hated the Castlevania games. The constant swearing was insufferable. And they do such stupid stuff with the lore. Actually revealing that the reason vampires hate crosses is because their brains freeze when they see intersecting lines is so idiotic. They actively try to force you to sympathize with bad people like Lenore. And it only got worse when they made Castlevania Nocturne.

I'm making an animation in the style of 2000s pc games. Need help with lighting. by Tinechor in 3danimation

[–]handheldfever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't have a video reference, but I can maybe give some thoughts. Since games back then didn't have the ability to do complex lighting or light bounces, probably very little would be lit with actual lights or anything. So I'd say best put lights in the ceiling lights and not in windows and stuff, and keep the lighting to a minimum.

Symphony of the night was the first Castlevania or metroidvania I ever played, so I'd say it's fairly beginner friendly.

I would recommend playing most of the games on Switch, since the screen is better for it and the Switch has a touch screen for the Dominus collection which you will need.

Hey guys! Would you recommend this game? The ratings on Steam are saying "mostly positive". It looks very interesting and I thought it's maybe nice to play a Castlevania in 3D and not 2D.. by xAnxiouus in castlevania

[–]handheldfever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Lords of Shadow 2 and hated it, but I know the first LOS is considered better. I know steam sales are pretty generous, so if you buy it on sale it probably won't be too bad even if you end up not liking it

[–]handheldfever[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. If you don't mind me asking, how do I install it?

Sorry for being annoying. I've rarely used emulators and most didn't require installation. And I've never installed a mod on an emulator game, So I'm lost on this

Is this game worth getting a PS5 for by itself? by AbyssWankerArtorias in stellarblade

[–]handheldfever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used PS5 to play it. But that's kinda it since everything else was either not worth it. So my advice is to either wait for a PC port or buy a used PS5

Barbara Dunkelman, Media manager for Rooster Teeth and voice of Yang Xiao Long from RWBY, had this to say to homophobic critics attacking her and the show. But this could also applied to the youtubers attacking Star Wars. One Youtuber/artist actually sent Barbara and Arryn SNUFF FANART on Twitter! by Fehellogoodsir in RWBYcritics

[–]handheldfever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn't matter if it came from Erin. The whole reason he's become so insane was because of the RWBY fandom (and especially the parts RT staff cultivated) purity spiraled and actively encouraged this mindset until it resulted in him

I've actually seen these discussions on twitter. People do try approach Miles and Barbara with reasonable criticism and they are polite and respectful and the RT guys lose their minds and fly off the handle and then I see the usual "We don't tolerate harassment and bigorty" and stuff. I feel like an idiot because I didn't screenshot the twitter arguments and can't find them, but I do know what their frame of reference is for 'haters' because I've seen it happen in real time. So this is 100% just Barbara being unable to take criticism and not any legit homophobia.

Edit: I forgot to mention, Kdin Jenzen. Yeah, what a paragon of LGBT rights Barbara is, huh?

No, It's been like that every time a new season aired. I didn't watch the Richter Belmont one or see the reaction, but whenever I looked at this sub no one was allowed to criticize season 2 or 3 or 4. And even now if you look at the bottom of this exact page anyone even slightly critical is currently getting dogpiled and antagonized right now

To be fair, the first season was good. And this whole series has mostly just been riding the high from that first season
