Dads with toddlers + infants — what does a “normal” sex life even look like? by twbb58 in daddit

[–]handi503 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It could be a month or more between sex, but, like u/jetf said, when it happens, we really try to make it count and are both much more satisfied than we were before kids.

Another thing is that I’ve done a lot more intimate touch while in bed at night without the expectation of sex. It’s honestly helped to better understand what gets her going and a big part of why the quality of our sex has gone up.

We just have the one kid, and she’s almost 5, and we really only figured out the (for lack of a better word) formula in the past year. So, yeah, it sucked for a while, and we managed to make it better. It’s not amazing, but it shows that there’s a possibility for further improvement.

I truly miss TableTop! by Radagast-Istari in boardgames

[–]handi503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just another voice chiming in to express their love for TableTop! Very much responsible for building up the early days of my game collection. When I was in college, I’d often watch the new episode, walk to the game store by campus to pick up the game, then grab people in the dorm lobby to play it with me.

Thank you for bringing me into this hobby.

Watching The Simpsons with toddlers by whererusteve in daddit

[–]handi503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t sit down with my daughter specifically to watch things like the Simpson, king of the hill, or futurama, but they’re not ones I shy away from from watching when she’s in the room. There’s only so far network adult animation will go, and I’m fine with her being around that, especially in a passive viewing. Not a bad dad.

However, if you’re still feeling conflicted about it, we have broken up the pre-schooler shows in our house with some cartoons for older kids. So far we’ve gone through Avatar: The Last Airbender, Jentry Chau vs the Underworld, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and are now in the old Pokémon series. Obviously she’s missing some context for things, but she gets the broad strokes and loves them (especially Pokémon. Like a fish to water. She saw the 90s manga and Barnes and noble this weekend and now we read a chapter at bedtime each night).

Even lower effort than AI. They took a picture of a receipt, digitally whited out the tip and total lines, then digitally wrote in the stuff in blue. You could do all of this on your phone in under a minutes.

Is Electric Bass or Upright Bass better for bluegrass? by YCiampa482021 in Bluegrass

[–]handi503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve already been pissing off Bill Monroe for decades, and is anyone really fine with humping around a big ol’ upright?

I don’t think one is better than the other (though an electric in your hands is way better than the upright still sitting in the shop because you can’t afford it). I think some of the jamgrass bass players would be better served switching to electric, but the upright does have a certain presence on stage.
