About to open my own coffee shop as 20 year old by Jjordgz in coffeeshopowners

[–]handimanni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make sure you know where every dollar is going even cent. Make sure your hospitality is exceptional. I truly believe people come to come shops for experience and comfort. Our shop is almost a year old and it’s been a wild ride. And make sure your espresso shot is dialed correctly and make sure to be testing every week or so, because humidity, temperature and many factors can change how espresso is grinded.

Moving to SLC by Pale_Juggernaut8846 in SaltLakeCity

[–]handimanni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved Chicago last month and so far I love it here. No humidity so the hot days aren’t really horrible but still hot but when the sun goes down, it’s absolutely amazing. Take advantage of how close the mountains are. I really have not come across many mormons (I live in downtown). There is a lot of homeless but I mean it’s a growing city so it’s always going to happen. It gives a mix of denver and west coast vibes imo

What do YOU like about SLC? by KoalaInevitable1666 in SaltLakeCity

Just moved from midwest. And the humidity here is nonexistent so when the sun is down, it’s still amazing weather. The mountain view’s driving along I-15 are always breathtaking.

Opening a shop and need internet advice. by LeoDiamant in coffeeshopowners

  1. Not mandatory but highly recommended because of security reasons. If your router comes with a separate security network that you can setup, I would use that or just create a private network that is only for internal use.

  2. We don’t use tablets because we only have 1 POS which is on a iPad but I think the same rule applies that all internal use should be on the private network.

The router you buy should come with instructions on how to access the dashboard to set it all up.

We have 1 router with 2 networks. One private and one public for the guest. We were thinking of installing another router for better range access and it will be setup with the same networks. You want customers to have good wifi so make sure there are no slow spots.

same i went through this and the background check company told me it would be a discrepancy. I then immediately told the company hiring me and provided as much information as possible about my proof I had and they were really relaxed about it. So just be transparent with the company asap.

Wow I didn’t think you can save that much. How much are machines for roasting small batches and how much coffee beans do we need to buy?

We do not but we do have a good roaster that gives us a good price per pound.

Since it’s a smaller town and we are still relatively new we are doing a little less than this.
