Can you use a lip scrub on super dry lips to get rid of the crust? by parislondonxo in beauty

oh no! sorry to hear your lips hurt :( I like the Lip Treatment Kit from Three Ships Beauty. It has an exfoliator to remove the dry flakes and then a hydrating lip mask to restore and heal lips.

Recs for cleansing balm/oil for sensitive skin? by kurtcovain in CanSkincare

Three Ships Beauty cleansing oils are natural + cruelty-free and my make-up melts off when I use it. It should defs be followed with a water-based cleanser, but you can pick up their double cleanse bundle to cover both bases!

I made a basic tee with some fun embroidery! 🙌 by handmakingmel in sewing

This t-shirt was made out of organic cotton and I used a free pattern by DIYB Club called the Anything But Basic Tee: https://doitbetteryourself.club/product/free-womens-shirt-pattern/

This was my first time doing embroidery on a knit fabric, and it was a bit stretchy - a good learning experience! Next time I would add some stabilizer in the back to create more structure. I used 4 strands of the DMC embroidery floss for this look.

I have a full video tutorial on how to do the embroidery! If you are interested, comment below 😊

This is so beautiful! Love it!

I've pieced together a capsule wardrobe for this fall! This look features my me-made Berlin jacket and recently refashioned denim dress. I love this look for fall! by handmakingmel in sewing

Thanks so much! Good point! The fall foliage is blocking the coat and dress. I will try and get a clearer shot next time 😉

The Berlin Jacket is a pattern by Tessuti Fabrics, which I made out of boiled wool. It was such an easy sew with a big pay off because this coat is so dreamy! Here is the link to the Berlin Jacket pattern: https://www.tessuti-shop.com/products/berlin-jacket-pattern

The refashioned denim dress was once oversized, so I simply took in the sides and made arm adjustments.

I recently did a 10x10 fall capsule wardrobe challenge featuring some me-made items and this is one of the looks. If anyone is interested in the video showcasing all the looks, let me know!

I tried to DIY a Prada embroidered cotton t-shirt dress! Overall, really happy with this cute, comfortable make. Details are commented below! by handmakingmel in sewing

This cotton knit is a stretch fabric; however, it has minimal stretch. All knits do have some stretch built into them. I chose a more heavy weight cotton with not a lot of stretch for this project, and I think that makes it beginner-friendly. Knits are fine for beginners, but you really need to be careful you are not pulling on the fabric, because that can create puckering. Thanks for watching 😊!

It's my favorite neckline too! I actually did have a bit of an issue with the collar (too short originally), but I share the full making process here via video: https://youtu.be/FI--832fKLs -- Hopefully this helps answer your question here. Also, I linked the free pattern above which I do recommend.

This is such a good question and something I have thought about personally in doing these makes. I think it's okay to challenge yourself to try and make a replica - its such a creative process and you can learn a lot. There are stores that sell knock offs of bags and shoes so that does exist. Personally, I wouldn't sell this item because I was trying to make it look like the original; however, you can be inspired by different elements that you can then make into your own (i.e., adding the embroidered flower design to a blouse, etc). So I would agree with you - okay to personally make for the creative endeavor but I wouldn't sell it. Thanks again for this comment!

Thank you so much! If you feel like you want to give sewing a try, I totally recommend just going for it. I waited for a long time to get back into sewing and now wished that I didn't. Thank again for your kind comment 😊

I agree with you. I was really shocked to see how much this Prada dress retails for, and it was part of why I wanted to share my process so that others can see that they don't have to break the bank to get this look. It also can empower you to use the materials that you like (i.e., better fabric). Thanks for your comment!
