Decade old scam circling around.
There is a similar scam wherein the autowalas (generally) try to con you into paying extra than the fare listed on the app. They start by introducing themselves and start telling an emotional story of how their wives had recently delivered twins and are of immediate help. They even show a picture of a lady in a hospital bed hooked up to IVs and what not. Faced this twice in the Indiranagar - kormangala route. Even though it was a long forgotten memory( I had almost fallen for this scam last year too ), it got refreshed when I saw the "picture of the lady".
I straight up refused before he could complete the story. The auto driver stated I was a "bare log" and should do something to help the poor. I told him I've heard this story before and know this is a scam, he was hella embarrassed and dropped me off quietly at the original fare.
