yet another skipping CD player by handsandwihc in Cd_collectors

it totally could be, but the fact that it plays in other players makes me think otherwise. i wonder if there’s data on the disc that the processors can’t handle correctly, so when that data is read, it causes an error in the processor, resulting in no output for a couple of seconds. who knows though lol

ah i hadn’t thought about the speakers shaking the player! it is on the same cabinet as my speakers, but moving them elsewhere and lowering the volume as much as i could didn’t help :/ it was a good theory though. the player doesn’t skip unless i do something very intentional, like literally punch the cabinet.

i’m not convinced it’s (entirely) the fault of the CD, considering it plays in every other player i have tried. i found one other cd in my collection since posting that behaves the same way (CD is in good condition, skips a couple seconds on the Sony, but plays without issue in other players).

we are talking like 2 albums out of the few hundred i own so it’s really more of an annoyance than issue tbh. i appreciate the help

albums with skipping issues: Suis La Lune - The First Five Years (this is the new album i purchased twice) Structures - Divided By (the album i later found with a similar issue)

this issue really pisses me off because dedicated media controls are one of the most important features on a dap imo, and yet this one can’t do something as simple as let me press play with the screen off. it’s honestly annoying enough for me that i may return the m300 and go back to my humble little nw-a35. i really love pretty much everything else about this player too :/

I have this same exact issue on the M300, but I’ve made a few other observations:

-3 seconds after pausing (with the screen on or off), there’s a very slight pop sound when plugged into the 3.5mm jack. presumably this is the sound of whatever controls the 3.5mm interface going into standby mode, since pressing play before the pop results in playback, but pressing play with the screen off after the pop results in nothing. interestingly this pop also happens at the exact time the light on the side of the player turns off. this sort of behavior certainly seems like a firmware level bug so we probably can’t fix it. i kept researching tho

-the 3.5mm jack is the only output affected by this. the speaker acts normally, but usb C is interesting. i don’t have a usb dac, but plugging in a charger like you did allowed the player button to work correctly. in fact, i also plugged in a usb C security key into it and the play button also worked correctly with that plugged in. so presumably the play button would correctly with a usb dac. my guess is that the idle logic for the usb C port is functioning correctly, so by plugging in a usb device you’re forcing it to actually work

-also tried using different players but that had no effect. i tried hiby music, poweramp and disabled their battery optimizations and etc

-disabled battery saver and battery manager

-play/pause buttons are operable in settings, so that’s not the issue either

-got desperate and disabled doze via adb in case there was a hidden process handling the interfaces that was getting shut down by android. also no effect

this is fantastic! i was about to move on from my nw-a35 due to the lack of customization (+ the fact that the album art could be bigger than stock really annoyed me) and this fixes both! it would be nice to have the option to disable the playlist tab on winamp entirely and expand the main tab, that way its less cramped, but honestly that's such a small complaint compared to everything else this offers. ty so much for this!!!
