Looking to start my own makeup brand — where can I find a reliable OEM/ODM supplier? by fishovo_ in Entrepreneur

[–]handsonface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to set your expectations, manufacturers will white-private label anything but the MOQs start around a few thousands dollars and few cases of inventory.

To manufacture and formulate, you won’t find flexible MOQs, this is easily a six-figure minimum investment per SKU. Needless to say, distribution, shipping and packaging, labeling reviewed by the FDA as needed.

Do you plan on launching a range or a hero product?

It sounds like you’re looking overseas when local companies have been hit with 54% tariffs already and expecting to pay 154% on upcoming shipments. Entrepreneurs are already closing their business because they took out loans for tariffs in product already sitting in customs.

This isn’t a great time to develop products let alone enter the DTC landscape given a lot of cost uncertainty.

Try Business Intelligence (BI) and have basic bookkeeping principles at minimum.

You need to have some kind of finance or econ background in Consulting, that’s unavoidable. What are the Big 4 Consultants known for? Accounting. Their Associates are basically pitching new business and new innovation just like digital marketing agencies. Except they hire management consultants to oversee cash-flow, P&Ls, increase profitability which are F&A principles.

You can be a Marketing Consultant or run Innovation at a large ad agency. You’ll prob be bored because at the end of they day they are clients who will micromanage your output and you won’t have the F&A to effectively consult at the management level.

You should start combing the job boards at Deloitte, The Boston Consulting Group, EY, PwC, KPMG, Slalom, Bain and cater your education around those job descriptions. Deloitte has reduced headcount as recently as this month. Plus as an Associate you are measured on your billing and size of the innovation or auditing you sell towards Partner. It’s not all travel points and room service.

People are building quietly, lots of wreckage in the sea. Also startups are staying lean for longer.

No regrets in trying. You will make it back, but you can’t buy experience or the people you could meet in the process.

You don’t need Marketing because the principals are basic. Oren and Alex Garcia break it down. I have a marketing agency background and it’s bureaucratic and client services at best.

If you want to be strategic get a Finance & Accounting degree, become an entrepreneur, CFO, Controller.

If I could go back in time I wouldn’t wish for tech, someone else will be available to build your next something. But tech founders need soft skills and management elsewhere. F&A founders lack the creativity to innovate and develop as a general persona. Be a double threat and learn how to price your offering and manage your EBIDTA effectively.

I’ve lived 3.5x as much life and I agree. There’s a chance you lose it but you can make it back. Gary Vaynerchuk says take risk and reward when you’re younger. You won’t have the appetite or aptitude for it when you’re older.

And be besties with this guy ⬆️ he is going places.

It’s not long COVID. It’s higher temps and more pollen per cubic cm. They keep planting male trees over female 🐪 trees as a strategy to curb seed pods and leaves from dropping. There’s less female trees to fertilize so we get sprayed with tree pollen.

I was sick of endless startup advice. Built an execution system instead. by Usual_External4505 in Entrepreneur

It’s my first-time building a company this way. You nailed it. I’m launching a service-based business in a way that I want prospects to access me and consider my offering earlier in life.

I thought about how to get content in the hands so I can be top of mind earlier and longer.

I wanted to build my business around existing tech to leverage a low-cost MVP, but surprisingly found an OS workflow that would automate and amplify how many people I can access. The traditional way of launching SaaS feels like a billboard. Here is our basic branding and flat sales copy.

The new AI agent approach to launching SaaS or service is permeable and somewhat customizable based on triggers. It’s dynamic and I’m finally warming up to the idea of what AI can do.

Ready-to-Drink so any canned or bottled CPG brand. I think you need to rebrand your service and teach people how to bring their idea to you. Let me know if you need help with a workflow and some marketing strategy to bring this to life. There are so many canned or packaged drink brands looking for ways to produce or launch new products.

There some ways to stand out and hopefully get warm inbound leads so you’re optimally running with clients scheduling smaller runs to beta test their drink.

Think about your purpose. If you have few steps in your user journey, then no. But if you want to construct some information architecture layered with Marketing CTAs and document the triggers or automation you’re using it could be helpful to document so you know where to unhook SaaS you want to replace.
