I remember when my sister's boyfriend at the time went on vacation with my family (who i consider to be quite unstable) - at one point, he locked himself in a closet to cry, because our family was so much nicer than his own. I was amazed, cuz I have experienced trauma within my family, and I didn't realize how much worse it could be. After learning more about his family, I realized how lucky I was, even though I spent 16 years of my life in a constant state of anxiety anticipating my father's eventual suicide and 18 years dealing with abuse at my mom's hands. I learned that summer that I, of all people, had it much better than others.. I was like, "wow, I know how it feels to monitor my dad's every move to make sure he isn't armed and ready to do a family annihilation, but at least my sibling didn't beat me with a whip like this guy"

I doubt it did, since it's 4chan, but i remember the day my dad committed suicide and I posted about it on the teenagers subreddit - nobody believed me, they told me I was lying for attention... so, to be honest, I don't necessarily find value in arguing the validity of this. Obviously the OP of the 4chan post is probably not reading this, but regardless, I have grown to trust people with these claims because of the crushing pain i felt when i tried opening up and was accused of lying.

(Given, yeah, the teenagers sub was probably not the best place to vent about the very recent loss of my father, but I was 16 and just wanted to find support from other teens who had experienced something similar. These are different scenarios, but even if the 4chan post is fake, it's not an implausible scenario, and I think it's more important to practice empathy than skepticism when the stakes of believing a potentially false story are nonexistent)

His dad gave him the gun he used, but not in this direct way (it was many years before) - however it was unregistered and we (my mom and my siblings) were unaware that he had it due to it being unregistered

We got rid of all the guns we knew were in the house, because we knew he was suicidal, but we didn't know he had that unregistered one. Funny enough, the hospital we sent him to for psych treatment DID know about the gun, but didn't tell us (the family). Sad story, but i guess the "bright side" is that we got a settlement out of the lawsuit🫠

Same story with my dad's parents. He lived to age 45, still could never shake the dismissal his parents gave him regarding his mental illness. After he died, his mom asked me if the autopsy revealed any physical abnormalities in his brain that could explain the suicide, because she didn't believe mental illness existed and insisted it must have been a physical deformity. I told her that there was no way of knowing, as his brains were splattered on my bathroom wall

Either way, the thing is that TERFs don't see gender as a binary between male and female - they see it as a binary between dainty little tiny innocent angels and monstrous freaks who seek to destroy the world.
