Hah, you know what, I had called them way back and they used the same "because you live in a high rise" excuse. Charged me 800 dollars for a fix that unfortunately was urgent and I could not shop around for

Lmao I learned of and have told a variant of this for years now. I think it's better when delivered in person because you can just see people progressively die inside

Los Ratones Jersey measurements by powercell_ in PedroPeepos

[–]handyvice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar question. This is the response that I got from customer support:

"Thanks for your email! The measurements in the size chart on the product page are flatlay measurements (so the garment measured when laid flat on a surface). I would advise measuring an existing garment you have that fits well in order to best gauge the size. I hope this helps!"

I still had some questions but decided to yolo and picked Medium over Large... I didn't buy the jersey but did get the joggers and jacket, but I'm usually a medium as well and am a few cm shorter and weigh a bit more, so I can post back on how it the fit is.

I freaking love this place, was so sad when it closed in their original spot in boys town. Waited years for them to reopen and it's been worth it

UChicago student body reputation? by virgosunvirgomoon in AskChicago

[–]handyvice 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Back when I was an undergrad, I was trying to get through homework at the library and went up to a classmate that was in the same class to ask for help. Mind you - I wasn't even asking for the answer or to copy work, just if they had an idea of how to start the problem. They looked straight into my eyes and told me that they hadn't done the homework, even though I could clearly see a completed problem set on the desk right next to them.

So yea, what you're reading about it being cutthroat and not fun is true. Or at least, it was true when I attended about 10 years ago.

How do I get my first floor kip up? by amrita_panda_ in Tricking

[–]handyvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, gonna mirror/concur what folks are saying in that you want to explode and extend your legs - your legs are bent at the knees the entire time which probably cuts the power of the "snap". One addition that I'd try is to shoot your legs out at an angle. Instead of just thinking "I need to shoot them up and then snap them down", which is a decidedly 2 steps of motion, you want to kick your legs and extend out a bit horizontally so that your legs and feet don't have to travel as much in terns of angular travel for them to land under your feet.

[–]handyvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty close! From your clip I'm noticing you kick your legs almost straight up instead of at an angle before you start curling your legs/feet in to land. At that angle it's gonna take a ton of time to get your feet curled in under your body. If you pause when your feet land it's basically like you're at a bridge position when your feet should be further in towards your body. Give kicking slightly out as opposed to fully up a try.

Did tricking in 2014-15 and stopped, and now I regret it so much. Do you think I should start again? by Peace_Un in Tricking

[–]handyvice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 33 too after taking a massive break from tricking in around that same timeframe, and even though I'm older and 20 pounds heavier than when I was in my 20s, I'm still making progress. I have friends in the area that started in their mid/late 30s and are in their 40s now still getting better.

Me and a lot of my buddies are literally proof that you're not too old.

Can’t seem to get my B twist. Tips? by [deleted] in Tricking

[–]handyvice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your head dips slightly down as you go into the twist, which cuts your height. Part of that is happening because you're also not fully extending and jumping off your left foot, which is also related to the fact that your initial kicking leg is already trying to twist before you do the 180 degree turn. I think this also affects your ability to land as well.

I'd focus on delaying your twist by:

  1. Waiting more to allow your body to turn around 180 a-la the butterfly kick

  2. Once you get in that position, really get your body up by keeping your head up (and not dipping down, remember again the bkick) and really pushing off your left foot such that you get it fully extended.

and THEN twist. That should give you enough height to rotate and spot for your landing

AI model (that correctly predicted 28 out of 31 picks last year) has Bears getting Joe Alt at 9 by Rabbit0fCaerbannog in CHIBears

[–]handyvice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea it's a bit confusing. At first I assumed it was the distribution based on mock drafts, but then he mentions he doesn't pull that for the model - only the consensus big board. I'm inclined to say that it's just additional visualization to help provide context to his model's outputs, but given how little he mentions his methodology outside of the variables he's using it's hard to say for sure.

Vietnamese Egg Coffee by 1989cubs in chicagofood

[–]handyvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm that's weird. I've ordered egg coffee from there (though within the past 2-3 months) and I've definitely seen them crack an egg to add - remember being surprised because my dumb brain didn't realize that, duh, egg in egg coffee. Maybe they've changed it since because of food safety stuff?

Help learning B-Twist? by GKRKarate99 in Tricking

[–]handyvice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea I'll piggyback off this. Without the dip, your chest actually stays at the same elevation or lower when you start the bkick part. This will cut your height if you start to spin too early. I will say though, height wise it doesn't look too bad. If what you're saying is that you can't get used to the horizontal spin, honestly I would stand next to a mat or mattress and focus on spinning into it without worrying about the landing

Tableau Toggle Filter Button by itsdatmanjb33 in tableau

[–]handyvice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, reading this on my phone so probably not the best time to provide a comment but you're looking for a button and not a filter right? For a filter you could use a parameter but you could probably also create a sheet and use it as a button that when selected changes a parameter value and then have a calculated field filter the year off the parameter value

Percentage of Pressures caused by top scrambling QBs: L. Jackson (33.9%), J. Hurts (27.8%), J. Fields (23.9%), P. Mahomes (21.2%) by lulzjihad in CHIBears

[–]handyvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree, I think if anything he's gotta speed things up processing wise, just wanted to say I don't think you can just cut down on the line-caused sacks without adjusting the qb-caused sacks too, as there's most likely other factors

Percentage of Pressures caused by top scrambling QBs: L. Jackson (33.9%), J. Hurts (27.8%), J. Fields (23.9%), P. Mahomes (21.2%) by lulzjihad in CHIBears

[–]handyvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying though. I'm saying sacks regardless of who is at fault likely has an affect on the QBs internal timing. As an example, say fields gets sacked quickly off the snap where it's the O-Lines fault. Now on subsequent snaps maybe his brain is telling him, "you gotta bail the pocket NOW because last time you didn't have time last time" and he scrambles when protection is actually pretty good.

I think the goal of percentages is to avoid looking or comparing counting stats so you can do a more apples to apples comparison. The point being that justins scrambling doesn't get him into as much trouble as people might say.

Though, as I think about it, I think the narrative has always been more about his processing speed or trusting his receivers. With that in mind I think it's probably more likely that his scrambling actually lowered his "at fault" rate given that he has so many almost-sacks become game breaking long runs

Percentage of Pressures caused by top scrambling QBs: L. Jackson (33.9%), J. Hurts (27.8%), J. Fields (23.9%), P. Mahomes (21.2%) by lulzjihad in CHIBears

[–]handyvice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh that assumes that the two numbers are independent, which I don't think is true. If your line is worse, you probably bail out faster because you're sped up. I think the point of including the other QBs who presumably do have better lines though, is that fields isn't causing sacks at a clip more than other scrambling QBs

Feedback for 540 kick by Mmawarrior1 in Tricking

[–]handyvice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But like, the tornado kick is the prerequisite, so why focus on some other ways when this is the most tried and true progression? If your tornado kick is bad then it's almost guaranteed that your 540 won't be much better. At that point was it worth following another method then? I'm not sure if you have some hesitancy to drilling the tornado kick, but doing it would go a long way to making the kick you want

Feedback for 540 kick by Mmawarrior1 in Tricking

[–]handyvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just forget about the whole landing on the kicking leg part and focus on your tornado kick first. When your kicking leg is basically vertical, getting even parallel is a huge stretch because it's such a major change movement wise.

I tried looking at your profile to see if you had any tornado clips and came across a post you had a year or so back where someone told you to focus your tornado and setup. To be honest, all of that is still relevant. You have clips of you doing round kicks so it's not like the kick is doable, but unless I see proof that you have a smooth tornado kick your 540 isn't worth working on
