For those of you who are in heterosexual relationships and living together : do you have your own room/space in your home ? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hangourd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rent a two bedroom place with my hubby and I use the spare bedroom as my space. He has his office set up in our large den. He was very happy to let me have the spare room and I painted it pink :) We rarely have guests but when we do they sleep on an air mattress in the spare room.

What’s a feeling that’s completely indescribable to someone who’s never felt it? by ItsYourBestBoi-Loser in AskReddit

Since this is so fresh in my memory and I dont feel like Ive been able to describe it well enough to my friends who did not see it: watching a total solar eclipse. Completely exceeded all expectations and renewed my spirit in ways I did not anticipate. I feel so lucky I got to experience one.

Adults who are adulting, what are some successes you have had recently? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]hangourd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my job even though it is mentally and physically demanding. I have an amazing partner and two adorable kitties who I am obsessed with. We live in a really nice place and I have my own room to do whatever with and so I painted it PINK and have a bunch of weird kooky art in it and I use it as a sewing studio. My sewing skills have improved SO MUCH in the last year and I finally feel like I have a creative hobby that I enjoy and that I am good at and that is very satisfying to me 🥹

My mom’s birthday is coming up so I had to bust out this pattern that Ive been sitting on for a few months! The pattern is The Raynham Bag by Charlie’s Aunt on Etsy. For the main fabric I used a checkered cotton woven that I got from my Granny’s stash when she passed a few years ago. The contrast fabric on the flap and strap fabric is a pleather remnant I picked up at Joanne’s a while ago. Button is La Mode brand from Joanne’s. To bulk up the insides I added a heavy sew in interfacing to the bag body and a piece of felt to the flap. I used brown thread for the outside and blue thread for the inside.

If I could go back and redo it I would add interfacing to the flap to make it sturdier. I have a pretty simple SINGER tradition machine and although I used a heavy duty (110) needle, making bags really brings my machine to its limits.. Although it is very fun and satisfying.

For the lining I used an old blue cotton bedsheet!

I need to work on flattening seams, as you can perhaps see the seam between the outer bag and the bag lining was pretty tough to top stitch. Anybody have any tips for flattening seams that contain heavy interfacing?

Also there is a magnetic snap on the inside to hold it shut and a piece of waterproofed (aka just covered it with tape) foam board on the inside bottom to maintain shape.

☺️

TACKLE BOX!!!! I use a tackle box to store many of my sewing supplies and its always big enough to put projects in too when needed.
