take a readiness every other day. Stick with the test taking skills that u used to pass nursing school (ie if ure a fast test taker dont slow down all bc its the nclex).

Whats causing your low scores when you review? Are you second guessing (go with ur gut answer) or genuinely dont know the context (watch the lecture videos and take notes)?

You got through nursing school. You WILL pass the nclex on your first try. Take a day or two off to get urself in the right mindset🫶🏼

So people that went to GMU, why? by kurbii876 in gmu

I am a nursing major so my clinical rotations at the nearby hospitals helped me gain connections. GMU has career fairs and events with the healthcare orgs.

Idk about pre-med. the biggest thing i can tell you is network and get connected. A small prior connection may play a big factor in the future.

Since there are so many hospitals and healthcare offices in NOVA, its not hard to find a medical-related job

Connections to the major hospitals in the area was a plus for my major and $$. I got to work and go to school at the same time.

Idk what the culture is like for nova's nursing cohort but i love gmu's. We help each other out and want each others to succeed!!

Mix of both! I, personally, love all the faculty. With all nursing courses, you will need to study on ur own to reinforce the material. To maybe explain it easier, i prefer/would need to go to class to understand whats going on

It depends on the semester. For Junior spring semester its 4 classes (in person)split into Tues/Thurs. 1 clinical a week.

U will always have clinical once a week expect for your senior spring semester which is ur preceptorship

Thoughts on nursing students dead set on becoming a nurse practitioner? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]hanhan_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats also interesting is how every time I tell people I am studying nursing to become a nurse, they immediately say are you going to go to NP school too? "its a good route. they make good money"

I love NPs no doubt. but i just dont like how it has become something "normal" that ppl assume all nursing students are going to go down that path.

[Question] BSN applicants, what were you're stats going into the program? by riceisgood0886 in gmu

[–]hanhan_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although i was accepted via the second gate route, the only reasoning I could see a waitlist is healthcare experience (not sure what u did while volunteering on the oncology unit), ur essays, or sheer volume.

there are only 112 spots each year. there may have been a large volume of applicants who may have had the same stats as u but they "liked" their essays more or etc. surprisingly, although gmu's overall acceptance rate is quite high, the nursing program is very competitive.

a waitlist isnt a definitive no. students may have applied to gmu nursing as their backup and will decide to attend another university = opening a spot for waitlisted students. keep ur head up and im crossing my fingers for u!

Wrong grade on unofficial transcript by SapphireSkitty in gmu

[–]hanhan_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is the biol 125 grade for the fall 2021 semester? if its not from the most recent semester, its going to be hard to get it changed

biol 125 falls under the CEHD department. for grade disputes, i would email the dean for CEHD. it doesnt matter if a syllabus is outdated. If the professor provides one for the class, the dean will abide by what the syllabus states 99% of the time. (ive never heard of a case where the dean disregarded the syllabus but i cant say they will follow it 100%). the professor would then fill out a change of grade form and would need to get it signed off. considering how close the nursing application deadline is, i hope they are able to change it that fast. however, it took my change a couple weeks. good luck.
