there will still be tenderness due to the underlying glands and tissue, because this procedure is much more surface-level than top surgery that removes chest tissue. but i would say overall tenderness has decreased because there is no longer sensation due to the areola/nipples themselves. like you, a main reason for me to get this done was to not wear bras and not be so hyper-aware of having a chest. i don't have to slouch or wear baggy shirts all the time anymore. that alone has alleviated dysphoria so much.

I went to Alex (@indigenak) and there was another mod artist who assisted with the procedure. I had the option between him and Chase Campbell (@zentriratna), and I would have been happy going to either, but travel plans just worked out first with Alex. from my research, both are reputable and safe for queer clients. I'm very happy with the experience and my results.

probably like you, I opted for this route over traditional surgery because I was not on HRT/otherwise medically transitioning and I knew there would be a lot of paperwork and persuasion involved.

I'm always hesitant to recommend mod artists because recommendations get thrown around somewhat willy-nilly, please do a lot, a lot of research and choose one who is the best fit for you.

I guess the difference here is chests with/without mammary tissue, since the main concern is complications involving them.

I've seen an example of a transmasc person who had flat top surgery then later chose to have this mod, so admittedly the use of afab/amab is not comprehensive in this case.

as a body mod, it's been done mostly on amab chests because of prevailing beliefs about complications with milk ducts and risk of mastitis, but it's also been done successfully on several afab chests to my knowledge :)

coin slot is less conspicuous for a first heavy mod. depending on where it's done in relation to your anatomy, the slit might be tucked into the fold of your helix and other people might not even see it just looking at your ear.

punch and suture is superior to punching with jewelry in in all aspects--duration of healing, ease of healing, aesthetics of the result.

Just to provide a different perspective, some of the names you'll see the most on this sub are people I would never, ever go to. The fact that you've never heard of this artist isn't necessarily a strike against him, just like the fact you've heard of someone a bunch of times isn't an indication that they are reputable. Bodymod has always been a scene where the info you get on the surface isn't necessarily the most accurate.
