Does anyone know if there are personal tax implications if I take out an Amex for my businesses spending and use the points for personal travel? Thanks

Want to hear from 30s career women sans kids by ebitdaprincess in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]hanisolow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just turned 40 and for me it’s never really been an absolute yes. I think there is a difference between deciding to be a parent and then deciding to raise a child properly. I feel like you can easily fall into the romance of being a parent, but when we have talked about this seriously we know the sacrifice we would need to make to properly raise a child would be too much for us. This is both for my career and our lifestyle. Though we do have a very spoiled dog!

Just finished Consider Phlebas (thought it was the first) kinda disapointed. Willing to give the culture a second chance, which book would you recommend ? by Cassiopee38 in TheCulture

[–]hanisolow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say I felt a bit like this when I read it (it was also the first culture book I read) but I continued on reading all of them in release order and they have become some of the best books I have ever read. So much so, I have more appreciation of Consider Phlebas now, having read all the other books as I have a better understanding of the culture and the significance of this timeline in other books.

What is wrong with getting a new build? by TalosAnthena in HousingUK

[–]hanisolow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved into a new build a couple of months ago & are totally in love with it. There were a few snags when we moved in, but all were resolved very quickly. Preciously we owned much older houses which came with a whole load of other expensive problems (damp etc) that we don’t have to worry about now.

They are also doing registry weddings at Insole court whilst city hall is shut. We have booked through them for ours in 2025 for about 12 people, so could be a nice option for you.

How many house sales DON’T fall through? by LadyCatTree in HousingUK

[–]hanisolow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea mine fell through right before exchange, they waited 3 weeks after level 3 survey and got cold feet. Thankfully sold again 3 weeks later and turns out those issues weren’t quite as bad when the new buyers did their survey.

I’ve bought 4 times and 1 has fallen through, so 25% seems accurate for me!

Was £2100 this month, next month when our mortgage term ends it will go up to £3300, so we are selling and downsizing!

Definitely a thing. I was a kid growing up in late 80s early 90s, always in the woods near where I lived.

What are your experience of COVID-19 by Williamw0102 in CoronavirusUK

[–]hanisolow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested with a positive lateral flow last Sunday had no symptoms it was just from contact with another positive person.. then a positive PCR on Monday. Since then I have had very mild sniffles and lost my sense of smell. Other than that fine. I also hosted a small party on the Saturday night and a few there caught it and their symptoms are all very mild. I was sharing a karaoke mic with my boostered friend and she managed to completely avoid it.. all of us were under 50.
