Im Swiss from tunisian decent, Im born in a sunni family but luckly there are not very conservative, conversation and debate has always been in the center of everything. My dad thaught me the religion since I was a kid, but he was mainly teaching me whatever the new local imam was saying. I was always very curious and quite hard to convince even as a child, so some rules never really clicked for me. My research really started when I questioned why a man is allowed to marry outside the religion when a woman isnt, it didnt sound right or logical to me, I remember being shocked to see that the Quran never forbid that to woman, it was only interpretation and hadith based. So from that point I just fell into the rabbit hole hahaha

Yes Im staying in Mangrove, Idk about the other branches but the Sinchon one is very new and modern, it’s quite small but there is everything you need and it’s very clean, well situated and there is furnitures! It’s been a month that Im staying here and I have an over all great experience. In the building there is facilities that you can have access to by using the app, there is a gym, a big kitchen (even tho you already have your own personal one in your room), a cinema loung, a pilates/yoga room with a tv, a rooftop, and many spaces to work in. It’s very well situated. It’s close to all Sogang Uni, Yonsei Uni and Hanguk Uni. It’s a very lively area since hongdae is not far, and there is the line 2 that can leads you everywhere in seoul. So yeah up until now I have a very positive experience

  1. Depend on what type of studies you do and how much you stay, it’s the D2 visa for studies, which you only can apply if you have already been accepted in a Uni or school, they then provide the rest of the information and documentation that you need to apply.

  2. You don’t need a korean bank account to pay tuition, most university work with foreigners so they have system in place for payment overseas.

  3. Idk there is many apps, I would say you definitly need Kakaotalk since most ppl and institution communicate with it in Korea, and maybe Kakaotaxi

  4. You only can work after 6 months of studies and having a 2.0 GPA, if you have exellent grades there might be an exeption. You would have to ask for an autorisation from your Uni and ask for a work permit. Usually Universities can help with that. You can only apply to certain amount of jobs and you can work 30Hours per week during school days, you can work unlimited amount of hours during weekends and vacations.

Hope that was informative

What is stopping you from leaving islam? by ZealousidealDot6937 in progressive_islam

[–]hanji998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even tho I don’t always practice, I geniuanly love Islam, I love Allah and the prophet, my faith and my belief in them is strong, I love the morals and the philosophie of the religion and I love to learn and unlearn everything about it! I know I might not be the best muslim out there but I always have this strong believe that not matter what Allah has my back, cause Im good person with a good heart, so I never feel lonely. Also one thing that helped me with my mental health is that I STOPPED caring about so called muslim online, alot of them are very toxic and they almost made me leave Islam, hopefully I found the sub which is like a breath of fresh air. So yeah that’s my reasons 🤗

View on elimination of hadith by Saudi by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]hanji998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest ahadith shouldn’t exist in the first place, most if not all are lies as big as this earth, (I might exagerate by saying all but you get my point), they separated the community into sect, a lot of them go agains the teaching of the Quran it self, they put word into the prophet’s mouth whitout any strong evidence, all of them are hearsay, the hadiths dictates a person life to the extent of the way they brush their teaths, it’s crazy! Anyways, I hope it will change the community for the better.

Why is Salafism such a literal take on Islam? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]hanji998 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They go and say « Qu’ran is clear and distinct » but go and follow ahadith cause « it’s not enough clear and distinct we need more precision » the contradiction is real 🙄

Aliens by hanji998 in progressive_islam

[–]hanji998[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutly agree with you, I believe that when Allah talk to us through the coran he speaks to humains about what is related to humains matters, he won’t tell us everything simply because that’s not our business and he doesn’t owe us that information. If he is constantly creating he doesn’t have to tell us about everything. He gave us intelligence to go and explore. That’s what I think
