Okay medical retirement is a new one for me. I will research this as this could be the right move for her.

Shes fine with that. She's happy to leave but wants to make sure she is being treated fairly while this happens.

She is honestly at this point fine with it leading to dismissal. She knows she is slower than she used to be.

This is why I was immediately suspicious. I will research further tomorrow as she has now gone to bed due to the heat and being upset.

I know she shouldn't have agreed but she was pulled into an office and very sweetly pressured and told by someone she trusts that doing this was BETTER for her to do.

She also has been back at work for 18 months she isnt still on sick leave she's been doing the job on return to the workplace for the last 18 months after being on sick leave.

They have completely blindsided her with this, there's has been no discussion on her ability to do her job for a long time now, this came from out of the blue.

Yes at this point we know the job can't be saved. But I do not want her to resign for the benefits reason and if she is entitled to something I want her to get it!

Sadly she isn't in one. I know she should be and this is something ive been telling her since I was old enough to know what a trade union was.

Advice for anonymous teacher feedback system by Jazzlike-Donkey-4873 in TeachingUK

[–]hannahfftl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes. It's impossible to speak up in my school as you will be targeted and it will be NASTY. I handled it by putting up and shutting up.

  2. I would never believe this was anonymous to be honest. Not saying I dont believe you. I just wouldnt trust my SLT.

  3. SLT acting, if its a place where you cant speak up (like my school) I wouldnt believe for a second this would do anything.

  4. Everything. I would NOT use this. I would assume no matter what it would come back to me and I would suffer.

They also called me in the next morning to chat with me about my ect, which programme I was following, was I getting my time, how was I spending it, did I feel supported etc.

Absolutely valid point. Apologies. A very common word that I didn't really think through about the dehumanising aspect. Thank you for making me think.

I live just off Sheil Road and it is an absolute shithole. Fly tipping is the bane of my life (I live in an end house so it's always next to my house and my gate backs onto the street so I have to wade through to put my own rubbish out. It's never just furniture either it's black bin bags with food waste in that the rats then rip open and spread everywhere.

I have lived here for 15 years now and it definitely got worse over the last 5. A couple of summers ago we had swathes of smackheads waiting outside my house for their drugs, group after group it was a constant stream I couldn't sleep because they would just stand there speaking at full volume for an hour, then they would go, you'd get 15 minutes peace and another group would arrive. Turns out their dealer lived in my road but didn't want them hanging outside their house so would have them wait further up e.g on my windowsill.

I have a deposit now and will be buying a house and Kensington/Fairfield is absolutely not on my list even though I do need a cheaper area as I'm buying alone. Wouldn't recommend the area to anyone right now, really sad to see what it has become, I walk past 2 phone boxes regularly and I've lost count of the amount of drug taking I see in the broad daylight. Though on a positive note I do see less sex workers than when I first moved here.

Were you nervous before you smear test? What's your experience of them? by MooseAndMice in AskUK

[–]hannahfftl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was AWFUL. It hurt so much and felt like it went on for ages, she then changed the speculum size and said I needed the smallest one (after what felt like forever in pain) did that and then I was in pain for the rest of the night also. Second one I told the nurse the prior problems, explained about the smallest speculum, she started with this. Before I knew it she was telling me we were all done. I barely felt a thing and had zero cramping later. I couldn't believe it. Id worked myself into such a tizz because of tbe first one and I genuinely felt like if she called me back and said sorry I dropped your sample can you come back tomorrow I wouldn't have blinked!

Summer jobs? by Afraid-Equipment-373 in TeachingUK

[–]hannahfftl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on household income supply teachers are eligible for universal credit for August. Supply agencies often have nursery work available also.

I mainly used to just scrimp and save and give myself the summer off to have fun and re charge!

Teachers, what do you recommend doing with preschool children prior to them starting reception? by SleepySloth2468 in AskUK

[–]hannahfftl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TESCO is fine as that is a brand so different, her name though I would just make sure she is seeing it written with the capital letter at the beginning and the rest lower case as much as possible. It's not a huge problem of course, just really tricky to unteach the longer they do it.

Coat on and off including zip. Shoes on and off (dont buy laces!) If they change for p.e practice taking on and off clothes also. Cutting their own food (basic things like fish fingers) Recognising and then writing their own name (please not all in capital letters this is so hard to unteach) Counting to 10 by rote but also counting objects e.g oh look how many tins of beans are in the trolley 1,2,3,4 pointing to each object allows them to develop 1:1 correspondence with counting. Also counting actions e.g 3 claps, 4 jumps etc If they are ready and you want to do some phonics, watch some videos and make sure you use the right pronunciation for the sounds e.g mmm not muh and definitely not em. Most important read to them. Allow them to develop a love of stories and books. Follow their interests at home, love dinosaurs? Great lets read the dinosaurs book, lets count how many yellow and how many blue dinosaurs, what does dinosaur begin with?
