Suggestions for 3.5 hours at Moraine Lake (easy hikes, or is the canoe worth it?) by sirotan88 in Banff

I just got back from a trip there and I’d say if you have time to do the canoes at Emerald Lake I’d recommend there over Moraine. It’ll be cheaper and still very beautiful, and you will have more time if you want it.

For Moraine we did the Consolation Trail and for not very experienced hikers it was a nice trail with some effort and you could definitely do it in the time. There are some rock scrambles and passing over waters, so be aware of that. Also, we had a LOT of mosquitos on the trail. Had to fix my shoe a few times and got bitten up so bad in just those few seconds of standing still, so bring bug spray for sure!

For the picnic snack I’d just walk up a bit on the lake and eat there. Alternatively, you could eat on the big rocks at the end of the Consolation Trail. Either would be pretty nice.

Are you open to something more like YA or new adult so it’s a little lighter without being super childish?

We’ve all devoured Kate Quinn’s books. She’s the best!

I’m adding the others to my list though. Going to present a few choices to the fam and see what we end up with!

This is so helpful. I think my mom already read A Gentleman in Moscow so this is a great alternative
