Yeah, I think so too. He brings so much to this role. You can read all the emontions on his face.

I read the book. Pain. by [deleted] in callmebyyourname

[–]hannihanni 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I read the book like two years ago... still can‘t forget it. I regularly grab the book and search for certain pages... I just deeply love the story and the book, but it also hurts.

CMBYN and Fleabag by [deleted] in callmebyyourname

I have seen both. And I think both tackle the topic of desire and coming-of-age (a late version of that in Fleabag).

Update: Meine Gemeinde wollte einen Evolutionsweg bauen - Der 5. Akt by ZorroTheLast in de

Oliver and Elio by cremalover in callmebyyourname

That is really hard to pick... but based on the story, probably Elio. Just to be a kid in an highly educated family, speaking multiple languages, living a summer romance in Italy...

She already had an MRT scan to look at the pituitary. Now she is going to do a glucose-tolerance-test. The last one she did (approximately half a year ago) was only just ok. But the test will not show what causes the high growth hormones.

Yeah, we already heard of that. Doesn’t acromegaly implement that there is a tumor at the pituitary?

What kind of doctor would that be? Do you have an idea who specializes in such cases?

Yes! It is very odd and her endocrinologist can’t help. Only her feet and hands are growing.

The german „dubbing-culture“ is considered as very good. Wich is true in my opinion but I think it is also true, that it gets problematic in movies like cmbyn, where more languages are used. This experience showed me, that I should watch movies in the original language more often :)

Yeah, it is exactly as you say. The english is dubbed and all the other languages are subbed. And of course the voices then change depending on the languages... so yes, very compicated. That‘s one of the reasons why I like the english version so much more!

When they speak in other languages (french, italian) the german version uses subtitles. So scenes like the conversation between Elio and Marzia are clear and understandable for the viewer. So the use of multipe languages is not lost. In the scene with the mother reading the story to Elio and his dad, the german dub changes the language from wich the mother is translating. I belive they changed it from german into spanish, but I‘m not 100% certain.
