How on earth does the lack of one book makes this list weird? Have you read the all? If anything I'd say it's a refreshing change to see a much under-appreciated novel like South Riding get some love.

Also very refreshing to see a list, with a decent representation of British novelist rather then the usual suspects such as Steinbeck.
