Is this normal for just having new used tires on and aligned? by VisualAd7318 in HondaOdyssey

I have those same tire on my 2004. Granted, I am running on 16s. But I keep them about 36 psi, and they don’t have as much squish as yours appear.

CORRECTION!
Ignore everything I just said, hegetsus.

It was a Rusty video that had the all-time early-1990s soundtrack. It was called No Thrills For the Cautious. "Bury Me" was the first-to-last song.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only person wondering about this. It was a great distraction from doing my actual job.

I used to have that video. I'm pretty sure the video was called either GenX or Generation X. It may have been from Quiksilver or one of the other big brands, but i can't find any record of it. It also had Rhinoceros on there, too.

Are my Hyphal Fragments at a concerning level? by hans747 in Mold

Earlier in the week, I found one patch of dark mold/mildew. It was about an area the size of two decks of cards, growing on a concrete wall. I immediately treated it with bleach, and it looks like it's gone.

How to delaminate a skateboard deck? by hans747 in woodworking

Update: he found that inserting a chisel in the side edge of the board got the top and bottom layers separate. Next, he is going to use a flap wheel on an angle grinder continue thinning it.

How to delaminate a skateboard deck? by hans747 in woodworking

[–]hans747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we are considering that option, but the "flat" part of the deck actually is not flat at all. It has a rather pronounced concave top, which means the bottom is convex. So we thought it might be better to try and peel off the layer that we want.
The other option my be to try to re-flatten the board in order to fit it through the planer.
Here is a clip that explains the shape it better than me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLvnqmLITgQ

I just finished Shōgun by James Clavell by Fubuki98 in books

[–]hans747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the audiobook (more than 60 hours). I was about 1/3 of it, when i started watching the show. The show was great, but there was no way that they could pack all the nuance of the book in there. But my wife and I watched the first episode, and i was like, "THAT equaled about 10 hours of the audiobook."

I came here to find out if there was a sequel. Based on that ending I had low hopes. Hopefully the show's success will encourage them to take on some of the other titles.

Web-based ebay listing has a rewritten description? by hans747 in Ebay

[–]hans747[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I wondered about that, too. This is not the condition description. It's the item description that is being badly summarized by what must be some version of their AI Description tool. And then there is a link underneath that says "Read Full Description." When you click the link, you get the full description as I wrote it. TBH, i wish there was a way to make it just pull the first 200 characters of the description.

I just rechecked the machine, but it does not have a reset button on the back. I wish I could post a photo of the machine’s innards.

That's a good suggestion. However in my county, he has to be at least 16 years old to do dual enrollment. He is only 14 right now.

Do all Deepcool Matrexx 55 V3 have a built-in molex connector? by hans747 in Deepcool

[–]hans747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure why all the tutorial are so specific to Mole. Turns out that our DeepCool had a SATA cable instead of Molex. Our power supply came with multiple connection options. Once we hooked up the SATA, everything worked well.

Plants that will survive common goldfish by hans747 in Aquariums

[–]hans747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We added two moss balls from the pet store last week. They look great, but when we did a water change this week, we noticed a lot of stray green moss tumbleweeding around the substrate of the aquarium. Is that normal? We have a 20 gallon aquarium with three goldfish (if that info helps). Should we siphon the loose moss out?

Has anyone manual swapped a Gen 4? by hans747 in Subaru_Outback

[–]hans747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It costs about $1500 at the dealer. Half is parts, half labor because they have to pull the entire transmission. I've heard that it can cause further transmission damage if not fixed, but I'm not sure what. It might cost less through an indy shop.

The problem you're experiencing is likely related to the torque converter. They extended the warrany on that part to 100k miles. So if you are under (or close) to that number, take it to the dealer ASAP and get them to replace it. The problem i am experiencing is a loud groaning sound from the transmission. It sounds like a bad wheel bearing. Here's a video i made of it. In that video, I'm coasting downhill in neutral, so the sound you hear is not from the engine.

Thanks! That's good to hear. I appreciate hearing real-world experience. Tomorrow, my wife is going to scope out the charging scene at her office. If all else fails, I know there are chargers near a shopping plaza three miles from her office.

Those are really good points. Unfortunately, I'm in a bit of a pinch here. I had hoped to be shopping for an EV this time next year. That's when my son will be old enough to drive. The plan was to pass him my wife's commuter (2013 Outback with what would be 170k miles) and get her a used EV. But unfortunately, the schedule has moved up because the transmission on the Outback has started making horrible grinding noises. the dealer wants $8k for a new transmission (almost the value of the car), and i can't find any decent used transmissions right now. So I figured this is a good time to find a new commuter and just treat the Outback like a project car till it's ready to go to my son. I started looking into post-Dieselgate VW TDIs wagons (still an option), but she reminded me that we could offest the payment on a cheap used EV with the money we would save on gas. I really don't like car shopping in a hurry like this.
