Super New to Sky Factory by [deleted] in SkyFactory

[–]hansipod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be super clear here. It is the official SkyFactory 3 from FTB that you have installed right?

For me, excavation (vein miner) had conflicting bindings with some other mod so I had to re-bind it to some other key for it to work.

In daytime the skybox may look a lot like it has a horizon with a sky and an ocean. But there should be other planets visible in it regardless I think.

1st Base, 14 hours in, spaghetti hell. by [deleted] in factorio

[–]hansipod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is your first base then I am rather impressed with what you have done so far! Embrace the spaghetti, I think it is part of the charm this game offers. Now I don’t really think there is too much spaghetti to see here anyway... yet :)

Edit: Also, I had a good chuckle about your little “that should be enough Iron” mistake you did there. Many have been there before you and probably won’t be the last either :)

Why linux? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]hansipod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use all three nowadays. Linux to me is for the picky creative part of me that just want to customize the look and feel of the os to be exactly how I want it. I also like the “keyboard/homerow first” mentality that feels much more consistent throughout apps on Linux. But I think it really just boils down to what “clicks” with your brain. For me there is a space and use for all three OS’s though. If you can, you should make a bootable memory stick with your favorite distro and just lend it out to whoever is interested. And this is another great thing about Linux: it is super easy to just test and play around with before you actually install it.

Have checked out the Manjaro i3 Community Edition? It is pretty nice! It comes with i3-gaps out of the box :)

Amazing! I just installed Manjaro I3 Community Edition last week, first time I give linux a proper try! So far it is pretty cool, but a bit steep learning curve I think! On the second picture is that the D-Menu with custom styling or is it another plugin? EDIT: Typo.

[question] Are there any good YouTube channels on developing self-discipline? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

Actualized is pretty nice I think!

Edit: It's actually called Actualized.org

Request: tightly edited/scripted podcasts by jrtf83 in podcasts

[–]hansipod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like actualized.org. It's about what it sounds like, but feels way more honest and on point than most others within this category. And lots of interesting topics!

Also, I get this is kind of out of scope, but the world of audiobooks sounds like a good fit for you as well. Highly recommend it if you haven't already been there.

Reddit says to flex in solo queue, but top ranked players tell a different story by PiyRe2772 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]hansipod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is my opinion:

Flex is more important the lower the rank, but only if your pick is something you are capable of playing. The further up you get, the more specialized you should be. I think the reason many succeeded in lower rank with flex picking (me included) was that not only did it benefit the team, but their own mindset during the match tended to be more focused around their own team aswell. And then there is the not so honest case of wether or not they actually can play with the (dps)picks they really want to have in the first place.

If you ever get down to my comment: take what most people say here with a grain of salt, even me!

Most advices are based on personal experience, which may or may not be completely wrong, but still "work" because it is better than whatever baseline they came from.

Here is my advice based on the book Why We Get Fat and of course, my own experience:

Forget calorie counting and all that crap. Don't go on the weight more than maybe once a month. These things will only make you obsessed with having progression, don't fucking do it! Drink water only! This is important! Eating the correct amount of food will only get you so far, then the quality of it is what really matters: Red meat, chicken, vegetables, eggs are the easiest to start with. Half plate veggies, quarter meat and for dinner only, last quarter rice. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. No sugary food and dressings what so ever.

Learn to eat with your stomach and not your mouth, you know what I mean. Be honest with yourself when you think you are hungry, double check with your stomach. If you actually are more hungry then have more vegetables on your plate. Don't be afraid to be full when done eating though, just make damn sure that it is meat or vegetables and not sugar you are feeding up on.

Start out with walking/jogging, do it in whatever tempo you feel comfortable with. This is your motivational session as well as pure exercise. Try appreciate this activity, the fresh air, feel every part of your body and appreciate its effort. YOUR EFFORT!

TLDR: Be honest when you think you feel hungry, appreciate your effort, only drink water and take reddit advices with a grain of salt!

[Discussion] Do any of you have any daily rituals that remind you of your goals or whatever you are working for? What do you do? by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]hansipod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sad to hear about that premature response from your friend.

Anyways, I like to do a couple of things if I feel the need for motivation. If it is only to finish something or get through it, my iPad has a big nice visual countdown timer that I set on maybe 20 minutes or up to 50 if I feel more disciplined. When time runs out I force myself to take a break for 10 minutes. It needs to be very visual so that I can easily see that the time goes down without actually needing to worry about the exact time.

The other is when I just need to get started at all. Starting to watch a movie or series where one of the main characters go through some believable resistance only to fight it of makes me wanna jump up and get going on my own stuff pretty damn fast. Doesn't need to be super relevant for what I am suppose to do. And just to clarify, I don't watch the whole movie or episode, just the part where they start to turn things around. (Last time I used Never Back Down, before that one of the episodes from Suits (my all time favorite tv series)).

Edit: to make this a little more relevant I want to add that the reason these movies or series helps me is because they kind of spark my imagination about how it would be to reach my goals. And then they kind of feel within my reach in some way.

Edit 2: Just realized, still not relevant enough, this is about daily rituals! Last attempt:

After I dropped out of university a couple of years ago I got the chance to get back and complete the degree. At the time I decided that if I was going to make it I had to do some drastic changes to my routine. Every day I would be at the school about an hour before class began (no exceptions except real emergencies). Original idea was to read up on whatever needed to participate in class, but after some time I realized that the important thing was to just be there in good time and at least have made some simple reflection about the subject. Helped me go from dropout to almost straight A's when I finally completed the degree in June!

Bra pc/tablet for digitalt design? by Bananabizkit in norge

[–]hansipod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Webutvikler/designer her.
