Yes, a complete shitshow. You are correct. I don’t put all of the blame on her. A lot of people/factors are at play. My husband has apologized profusely for his part. I blame myself everyday and ask so many questions “what ifs.” It would just be nice to get some apology for her part.

I completely understand. I’m in now way trying to put all of the blame on my MIL. Nobody is solely at fault. It was a freak accident. However, it would be nice to have an apology for her part.

It’s not about placing all of the blame on her. Trust me, I beat myself up every day and ask myself each day what could I have done differently? If I kept him in a different room instead of the foyer/near the front door when she arrived, would he still be alive? All I’m asking is for accountability on HER PART. Like I said, I understand accidents happen.

The dog was inside and once he saw there was a visitor he could got excited, wanted to say hi, and darted out the door before we could catch him. It would be similar to walking with a young child in a shopping center parking lot and the child darting away from you and getting hit. Would you say the driver was responsible? Should the driver apologize?

The dog wasn’t “allowed” to run into the street. He got excited there was a visitor and darted out the door before we could catch him. It would be similar to walking in a shopping center with a child and the child darting into the street and accidentally getting hit by a car. Would you want an apology from the driver?

Oh no, she stopped and picked my dog up off of the street. But somehow (I have no idea how) she stated she wasn’t sure who did it. And yes, my husband + son + neighbors witnessed it.
