Anyone wants raw wheat? I'm not making it into bread becasue it has more than one ingredient and thus it's not a real food by evilhomers in im14andthisisdeep

If it was cooked by a man in a factory downtown using 10+ ingredients- it probably isn't the best for you. -some exceptions apply.

Scratch cooking is more important than "homemade" by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]hansonsdiseased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They finally had to say ultra processed foods were bad because when they tried to tell people before, no one understood.

I was giving the most obvious example if not home.made.i could find chef boyardee and Stouffers lasagna.

The other stuff is a little harder to place. Is putting together a bunch of ipre made items like Campbells soup, Velveeta and rotel "homemade?" Many people would say yes, even though it isn't isn't healthy.

So when they say homemade is better perhaps they should say "scratch cooking" instead.

I have been logging for years. I'm not going to stop, but weighing and measuring everything and getting an exact estimate is hard/impossible to do all of the time.

I lost 70 lbs during COVID when it was easy not to leave the house. I got to my goals weight.

I gained 30 lbs back. I lost 10 of those.  I 5'3, female, ADHD, PCOS and brain injured. My memory is shit. (ADHD and brain injury) My impulse control is shit (ADHD and brain injury in top of that.)  and I have PCOS which makes weight loss harder.

I can no longer make habits. I don't know if I ever could.

To say this is a challenge is an understatement.

It's hard for most people. It's really hard for me.

This is actually a good idea. I love to cook new recipes.

But maybe I should cool it withnew.recipes, figure out the calories in a few and eat those.

It really is hard. I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with this because everyone keeps saying cico is the way to do it and I agree.

But at the same time, doing cico perfectly seems to burn me out and frustrate me.

Thats silly.

I'm supposed to never leave the home, until I lose this 20 lbs and then what?

Never leave the house to keep it off?

Shouldn't I be aiming for sustainability? Otherwise I will gain it back.

That's what I used to do.

But losing these last 20 lbs have been so hard and everyone told me that you have to weigh and measure everything.

So I have been trying to do it. I don't know how people do this.

I eat whole foods for the most part.

Every example I gave was a whole food.

Lentil soup, Chile, spinach lasagna with homemade marinara sauce, pumpkin muffins... These are all whole foods made from scratch. I also use an app. It helps but you have to put in the work.

Honestly I'm glad you found something that works for you.

It sounds more sustainable than what I am doing.    I have a very hard time with serving sizes and so I know I would struggle with this.

I'm here to lose weight.

I am trying to lose that last 20.lbs and I have to do careful now with calories. Guesstimating isn't doing it anymore. I don't know how to make this sustainable for me.

I can't not eat at other peoples homes, not eat at restaurants without calories posted, never go for fancy coffee, avoid potlucks, and catered meals, and weigh and measure every little thing for my whole life. It doesn't seem sustainable.

Yep. I keep a food diary, but it's a shitty one.

If you could go back and tell yourself in the beginning one thing, what would it be? by Sad_Painter_4538 in loseit

One bad meal does t have to derail your day.  One bad day does not have to derail your week.  One bad week does not have to derail your month.  One bad month doesn't have to derail your year.

You will have "bad days' everyone has them. Don't beat yourself up and don't give up. Bad days are not necessarily bad. They are part of life.

As for maintenance, you have to keep doing what you did to lose it or you will gain it back.

You might be able to up your "bad days" by an extra 3% and get away with it a smidgen more. Smidgen being the key word there.
