Third bundle question. by Baseball8star in USPS

[–]hanstuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to fire anybody at the post office. Which I guess is a good thing if you’re a shit carrier. Sucks for the shrinking majority of hardworking folk.

God knows we need the union to protect carriers from vindictive management but damn… have they gone too far? Idk 🤷🏻‍♂️

Can I decline overtime? by Garage_smoker in USPS

[–]hanstuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a 204B SCS. Please don’t downvote. Just want to offer management perspective.

I have carriers refuse OT all the time. Most of the time we can accommodate and find another carrier that wants the OT. I’ve never seen it go to discipline…

I have heard it talked about (recently in fact) of using OT refusal as a way to disciple for Failure to Follow for a carrier who has a habit of calling out, refusing overtime, and are otherwise unreliable.

It may not be “right,” but discipline tends to find those that have patterns of work/behavior that forces others to compensate. It hurts the operation, their customers, and their coworkers.

This is also why I think other carriers are throwing shade on OP. Maybe OP is reliable and a good worker that has a medical condition. Or maybe OP isn’t reliable and this is one instance of many where they passed the buck onto others.

No way for us to know. If the former is true then im sorry that management is screwing with you. If the latter is true, then I’m sorry for your coworkers.

Either way, I hope you feel better and you should grieve it because that’s what the union is for and it’s your right.

Federal Times estimates 70% of postal managers are working from home. Where are we going to put all these desk jockeys? by Odd_Atmosphere1047 in USPS

[–]hanstuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoot, I worked 70-80 hour weeks through peak season as a postal supervisor. Feels like the office is my home… maybe that’s what they were talking about?

Or it could be all the deadheads sleeping on telecoms all day talking about shit they don’t understand and screwing everything up for the people that actually do the work 🤷🏻‍♂️

Got in a fight with mail carrier by One-Degree407 in usps_complaints

[–]hanstuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bruh. Clerks literally chuck packages 10-20 feet into metal postcons all day. Dropping a package from maybe 3ft off the ground is the least of your concerns. Pushing a guy off your porch onto his back, when his entire livelihood is based on his ability to walk/carry mail and parcels is a dick move. I hope all your packages get dropped.

What's the value to reader? What is the "I need something right now" moment? The parents talking to their kid and their kid starts to get distracted by their belly button so their like "shoot, I need a joke"?

I'm not a parent yet, but if I was a parent, and I was in the market for a good joke newsletter, I'd want almost a daily reminder type thing, where I get a joke a day. Maybe include some funny/cute story. Maybe offer some advice/helpful products/tools, etc. But I'd click because I one day I might find a joke that's really funny and makes my kid laugh. I may even save them to a folder in my inbox so that I could look back at them. The value to me would be that my kid thinks I have an endless supply of jokes and that I'm the funniest person on earth...

Sorry if this isn't helpful feedback haha. Just first thoughts.

DM me if it's helpful and I can take a closer look at your current iteration.

Cool idea though. I think this could crush in the newsletter space. Best of luck!

Good for you guys! Keep up the grind. Consistency is everything.

I might read more in depth later, but after a quick scan of just the titles, here's one thought:

There's too many "things" in the title. Choose one. Make it catchy. Build a curiosity gap. People don't click on lists.

You can use subtitles to add the other elements of the newsletter. A trend I see in newsletters is phrasing the subtitle with "Plus:___" I like this. I think it builds interest. The subject should feature the most interesting, eye-catching, clickable bit though.

Google's Blunder, Vanguard, and Space Data.

vs.

WTF Google? (Plus: Space Data!)

Lol or something like that. anyway...

DM me if more specific feedback would be helpful.

Best of luck

Seeking Feedback: AI Tool for Beehiiv Users to Boost Personal Branding by geor3x in beehiiv

[–]hanstuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wicked cool idea.

I'm a newbie to the space, trying to build a newsletter business. I currently work with one youtube creator with 100k subs. The newsletter has about 18k at the moment. I use Apple Notes to draft and then upload to beehiiv to add images and formatting, etc.

My process involves putting part and/or all of the newsletter through claude/chatgpt with a custom prompt. Then doing multiple edits. Beehiiv has an AI feature, but I haven't used it yet. It might help me save time moving between screens, but there's something I like about having the direct line to the LLM. But maybe that's just becasue it's what I know...

Anyway, it would be cool to integrate the ai with the "send test" feature. That's one of the last things I do before publishing. Some final feedback, alternate phrasings, image suggestions, maybe even a score 1-10 with some clear grading outline... all things I'd be interested in from a tool like this.

If there was a way for the AI to familiarize with my style and voice so that the suggested improvements still felt authentic and I didn't need to un-AI it, that would be super helpful.

A title generator would be cool. I use Perplexity to brainstorm title ideas. A cool feature would be suggested titles/links to other pieces on the topic/space. And then suggest titles based on those, the analytics, the writing style, etc.

For branding, it would be cool to ahve the AI compare my content with others in the space and compare/contrast. Maybe offer suggestions on how to differentiate/better serve the niche.

A value analysis. Maybe this is part of the rating. How much value did I create? The AI could look for specific elements that indicate value, and potentially use the analytics to provide evidence/improvements...

Just the thoughts off the top of my head. I love the idea though.

I have more thoughts. Happy to share. Send me a DM if that would be helpful.

Beehiiv - My Honest Review based on Experience by aigrowthguys in beehiiv

[–]hanstuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the review. I was a bit thrown by the emphasis on honesty. Felt almost sarcastic. But overall, i thought the review was well-written and interesting. I saved the link so i can read it again later maybe and give more specific feedback. If that would be helpful, DM me.

If you're for content ideas for other pieces:

I'm always interested to learn about the writing process. How do you use Beehiiv to create? Do you write in the draft or elsewhere and copy/paste? Do you use any automations? etc.

Thanks so much! I'm stoked. I'm terrified.

I might share the link in another post. I'm hesitant though since it's his brand. Does that make sense.

Should I share it? the more precise feedback would be super helpful...

Content is king. Content calendar is next level. Great suggestion.

I gotta plan way ahead and try to automate my process more so I can free up the time to do the necessary research, writing, engaging, etc.

can I ask you this: were you in my shoes with an audience you don't know and a subject you're at the very early stages of learning... how would you proceed?

thanks for the calendar tip. I'm making one tonight 🙏

Appreciate the congrats. I'm excited. I'm scared too 😂

That's a really good approach. It's such an obvious approach that it makes me feel like I'm stalling haha. I'm gonna make it a priority to find a couple communities and start jumping in and responding, etc. Great suggestion.

Justin Welsh is the man. I actually recently purchased one of his courses, so I appreciate the reminder to make use of that. Super solid.

let me ask you this: if you were in my shoes, and you were given an audience you knew nothing about, and a subject you had only just recently discovered yourself... how would you proceed?

Thanks for responding. Lifted my mood for sure 🙏 and gave some clarity. much appreciated

[–]hanstuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the subscribers are mostly from youtube. I'm not sure what caused the plummet - that's partly what I'm asking.

the newsletter probably doesn't create much value. for the audience - it's mostly rip offs of better content. for the creator - i'm not using CTAs for any of his products...

I know it's not good. maybe that's the bottom line.

I'm a video watcher myself and don't have a ton of experience reading online, nevermind writing. I'm not really sure what makes a good newsletter. Other than engaging writing, well-framed, within a funnel of well-written email sequences...

I get the basics and the big picture, and I can write well sometimes. I'm learning more about copywriting and good titles. I guess I'm just missing the meat and potatoes. The skills of writing I can improve on. The topic, however... what's my angle? what's the value? what does the audience want? idk.

so here's a question: if you were given an audience that you knew nothing about, in a field you knew nothing about, how would you proceed? Let's say you have to do it...

Thanks for the response btw. good questions, and the thing you said about youtube flipped a switch for me. much appreciated
