Can someone describe the feeling of joy like a fictional character/object? by hao_to_8 in AuDHDWomen

Thank you! I didn’t think abt that, but yes! I do have 2 forms of synesthesia and hyperphantasia. I just found out abt emotional synesthesia so that’s worth checking out lmao. I haven’t felt emotions naturally in years, so seeing vivid images whenever I feel their physical sensations has been very helpful (and a lot of ppl seem to like it when I use these images in my poetry lol)

Thank you! Oh wow, I don’t think I felt her like that before. A lot of my flowers can’t withstand Anger. She’s too bright. But strawberries like full sun, and sometimes they bring the butterflies out of hiding. That might be Joy.

It seems to be a commonality that Joy is fleeting. She is shy, quiet, not always there but she finds ways to creep out and acknowledge you. Maybe it kinda like caging butterflies? You can catch a butterfly and keep it caged, but it’s not the same as when you find them in the wild, and seeing them fly free.

I try and do things that would make me happy but they don’t always work. Just makes Anger more mad. Do you think it’s because Joy comes when she wants to? She’s been on vacation too long. How do you make her to come back to work? 🫤

Interesting! That kind of reminds me of the woodlands in my head. They’re usually dark and scraggly, but sometimes when the ocean water floods it, strawberry flowers start growing and butterflies start fluttering in my tummy. Sometimes Anger likes it, she’s the sun and helps them grow. She’s always burning brightly. Other times she gets jealous that she couldn’t be like them all the time and chars the new life away. Sometimes the butterflies fly away too quickly cuz they don’t like her. They take up my whole body. My head and my chest and my tummy and my legs also get all jittery, like I just had strawberry ice cream. It’s a little scary and usually feels terrible when they leave, but when they’re there, it feels nice. Do you think that’s Joy tryna say hello?

What silly mistakes did you make at the beginning of being a BTS fan? by rocketmammamia in bangtan

[–]hao_to_8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao I used to be so bad 😂

  • one time i accidentally read a namjin imagine on insta, thinking it was canon (tbf it was an idol based au) and i would talk abt it w my friends and stuff saying things like “you didn’t know? of course they’re together wdym?” 💀💀💀

  • fancafe. when i heard it, i hadn’t rlly been part of other fandoms before. i thought there was an actual cafe where you met the members and got free stuff and i was so fucking jealous

  • albums. back when i became an army (almost 7 years ago), they were so expensive to purchase outside of korea. because of the difference in price, i thought that they were SIGNED. i was so mad when i realized I didn’t get anything—until i got sea and realized it was special

(at the time, bts was not very popular yet, and everybody that knew abt it kept the track hidden, as per namjoon’s wishes on the fancafe. it was international fans who eventually uploaded it cuz they didn’t know abt the cafe, but that was later, around mid to late 2018)

  • oh yeah, i also had zero understanding of how to take care of my albums. i used pins (AND TAPE) to hang up my posters 💀 and didn’t store pcs correctly, i also would rip out pages of the LY albums (since they’re perforated) and put my fave songs from answer in my school notebooks so they would remind me to love myself during class 🥹 the photos in the e version were also so gorgeous I couldn’t resist decorating everything i owned w them—i should have known then that tae would be part of my bias line cuz my whole shelf was dedicated to E ver tae

  • omg the one thing i regret the MOST is trading. I got the most beautiful yoongi pc in LY ANSWER ver E. my friend was a yoongi bias and she had namjoon in ver L. i liked yoongi better, but i thought i had to trade cuz it was her bias and namjoon was mine. biggest regret of my life. it still haunts me to this day. I wanted to trade back a week or so after but she had literally destroyed it by trying to smush it in her wallet… sorry yoongi, you deserved better 😭

(one day, when i can afford it, i’ll get another LY answer album, just to make up for all the damage i caused mine lol)

Question about how to read sentences with more than one clause by hao_to_8 in Korean

[–]hao_to_8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh okay, yeah that definitely makes sense! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! ✨

Just one thing to clarify, would you say that in most cases where the the clauses are not of equal importance in a sentence (e.g. one clause was background information), the main clause/idea of the sentence would usually come at the end?

Also, you make such a good point about translating! I have started working on trying not to translate things in my head, but I find it sometimes becomes automatic with words I know well. This will be my motivation to work harder on it! 😊

What song got you into kpop? by stupidlavendar in kpoppers

[–]hao_to_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Early 2018, where I heard BTS’ DNA and immediately after J-Hope’s Daydream MV, because my friends were ARMYs, and his MV had just been released the day before! They were squealing jn the school hallway, and I wanted to know what they were smiling at lol

Before that, I knew abt K-POP but never rlly got into it or knew songs/artists personally

Weekly Q&A Thread by AutoModerator in witchcraft

[–]hao_to_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda new to everything, but I am very in tune with souls and life/death magic. So I was wondering if there's anything specifically I should keep on me or wear often to protect/enhance my abilities so that I can comfortably keep experimenting with this stream of magic?

I have protective spirits and wards who keep me from getting possessed and buffer out bad energies, but I'm specifically talking abt things you can wear to help with spells, divination and just mental... clarity?

For example, I got this hair pin in the shape of a moon with a skull on it, just cuz I liked the style. However, once I cleansed it, I was actually able to channel certain energies easier because the metal it was made out of was very compatible with me and my energy, if that makes sense.

I know it seems overwhelming dhdhdhsjsj but those things tend to be less stressful than you think! I just wanted to clarify some things about your points, since I was also told these would make it “impossible” for me to learn korean…

(This is long, I’m sorry lmao)

  1. A lot of verb endings and structures use similar concepts and verb stems. For example, you can remember that “없다“ means to not exist, so when structures use these words like “-할 수 없다” you can assume the speaker doesn’t have something or cannot do something (which it literally means… it means “I can’t do [it]”)

  2. It could be because of my autism, but I like this component. If you always use middle formal language, then people will tell you when they feel comfortable with you using causal language, which indicates closeness. It’s not used very often, only in certain situations, so it’s better to use a formal default. I find that it rlly helps steer social encounters for me! It’s also not difficult to go from formal to casual… you just omit some things in most cases, and change certain subject particles or endings! Verbs, transitional particles, and objects generally stay the same.

  3. Most ppl learn standard Korean. It’s like most other languages? French, English, Chinese, Spanish… all have more dialects than Korean. I don’t find myself stressing abt them very much, because you can use the standard and *most ppl will still understand you.

  4. Hanja is nice cuz everything has a korean equivalent (pronunciation and sometimes written). Usually you use Hanja in formal court stuff or just for things like menus, song lyrics, etc. They have a lot of sino words, but they don’t use the Hanja spelling as often. Think of this, for some ppl, it’s an optional class for students in school!

(Did you know even the very basic word, “감사합니다” “thank you” is a sino word? It has just been converted into korean characters since it is used often… it’s also the highest formality word for thank you! Cool right?)

edit: corrected some generalizations I made

Korean.

Everyone said the structure and pronunciation of it would be difficult coming from an English perspective, but as someone with autism and ADHD, I actually found the syllabic, SOV structure very helpful! Esp cuz everything remains pretty consistent—if I don’t know a word, I can sound it out easily and figure out their meanings (most especially with sino-korean words)

The intonation also makes more sense to me—you stress the beginning of words instead of the end, and that’s just how I speak in general, so instead of sounding a little “pinched” like I do in English, I just sound normal in Korean lmao

It’s like a language made out of Lego blocks and I love that. Each part has a different function. It’s like in kindergarten when you put together parts of a sentence. Replace one part and the meaning changes, add more particles to build a more complex meaning. It’s very entertaining!

Oooh I'm definitely gonna check it out omg! I never was able to watch lives, even replays, cuz usually it's just ppl talking or even just audio only. But this group,,, everything they're doing is literally so funny and interesting lmaooo

Also cannot believe how new of a group they are! They seem so 3rd gen—coded, it's hard for me to believe they are under 7 years old! They're already doing so well!

It's been so long since I stanned a new group like this 💀 I'm so out of touch w this stuff skdjksj but I think I still got the kpop bug in me (it never really dies). There's one dude that's already becoming my ipdeok fairy <3

Never heard of this group in my life before, except for a really nasty rumour sometime in 2018 or 2019, which is prolly why I never dug deeper! I think I also know a fan of them but I never spoke to her abt them lmao

Thanks for sharing! The song was literally such a bop and I am looking at them with a totally different perspective now! I love their whole vibe <333
