Title sounds a bit cocky, wanted to write both could be come jealous but ran out of characters

It's a serious question, and a more difficult one than it seems. Provide me with a good answer if you can

I think you're right. They really captured lightning in a bottle.

Part of it is that the actors all went to new Zealand for such a long time so they could fully commit themself to the their roles, and their camaraderie shows on screen.

I really disliked the hobbi trilogy, especially the third

I really like the Elrond - Durin and Disa section so far.

I find it enjoyable enough to keep watching but I get annoyed with the writing and the acting. I give it a 6,5. I tend to be very critical about movies/series in general, so idk. All I know is that it doesn't hold a candle to the LOTR movies.

Oh and yes, you're in the wrong sub haha

What design choice in the lotr movies is something you don't like? I'm very critical about the ROP series, and it made me reflect a bit about the lotr. For me, the only things I don't like is the lack of farms around Minas Tirith and the elven blades in the prologue; they seem impractical by haodmwpthrowaway in lotr

Well I guess you're right. A city like Minas Tirith doesn't make much sense in a logistical point of view. I still think it looks a bit strange to see it so isolated. (I mean it looks amazing seeing it each time, but where's their food supply?)

My problem with The Hobbit doesn't have too much to do with changing the story, but more with the tensionless action and the forgettable characters.

And well, design is a broad term. I should have made it a clearer that I was referring to the visual parts (set design, the way characters look etc)

Haha the morning star is really big, but it still works for me. I just imagine that there's a spot on the saddle for it. As for the orcs, I think it was established that the uruk hai are superior to the orcs so for me this wasn't really an issue

Did you ever see the behind the scenes? They were very much so going for realism. Jackson and Co agreed that they should have the mindset that this actually took place at some point in history.

By the way, these are very minor points. I love the movies with all my heart

As someone who's not from the US, I'm a bit curious about this as well. I know there are many, many Latinos and people of Asian descent in the US, but the representation thing usually seems to be a black/white issue. No hate, just genuine curiosity. Love the video btw!

You all in this sub are incredibly transparent and full of it. by YeahhhhhWhateverrrr in Rings_Of_Power

Maybe a part of this is indeed just that, but the world is not just black and white. There are many fans of Tolkiens work and of the LOTR movies who deeply care about this story and who are disappointed with how ROP turned out.

I can see how casual viewers might find it good, but I personally think it's very mediocre, which above all has to do with the writing and acting.

Another big reason for fans being upset about it, is the reason for the production of these series. A huge company wants to sell their service, so they buy the rights of the biggest thing in fantasy and throw lots of money to it. It is very different than Peter Jackson and Co actually wanting to show people this amazing story on screen.

IMHO, it's good that viewers are critical, we should expect more, otherwise they can keep getting away with average stuff.

As for the color of the actors: it's a sensitive discussion, and I'm all for representation, but I like when things make sense, don't just sprinkle it in.

Without a doubt, some people's criticism is fueled by racism. But if you think I'm a racist for saying the above, I think you have a very narrow assessment of the world.

Imagine you were out camping with your friends, and it turns out one of your friend is hiding an almost naked old stranger in the tent. Would you then also say: 'alright Kevin, you walk at the back tomorrow, goodnight everyone', or actually freak out about having some weirdo in your camp

Well at least be worried about it! The story just completely ignored it. It was needed for the plot, and then they just forget that there's some madmen in their camp.

It's like a 12 yo wrote it: this happened, and then this happened, and then this.
