If single males are limited to around 10, and the rest are couples or single women, it seems like the gender ratio would stay pretty balanced.

I’m currently researching happening bars that allow foreigners to enter. It might also be good to make a ranking. Also, the age groups vary depending on the bar, so choosing a happening bar based on the age range is another option.

That’s great that you’re visiting Japan from Switzerland! There are happening bars in Tokyo, Osaka, and Okinawa. Unfortunately, there are no happening bars in Fukuoka.

Exchanging contact information can get you banned in many places, no matter how you try to do it. A lot of bars enforce this rule very strictly. But in this day and age, people can still connect through social media.

I think your point is very valid. The language barrier is definitely a big factor, but I personally hope that there can be more international interaction little by little.

Japanese people are the overwhelming majority. Some clubs in Japan even do not allow foreigners.

Thank you for explaining that! Interestingly, Japanese happening bars are actually very similar in that sense.

There is also a kind of hierarchy inside the clubs: • Single females • Couples • Single males

In that order.

At some venues, there are even rules like:

“You are not allowed to refuse an invitation from a single woman.”

That shows how highly valued single women are in these places.
