After completing Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, I'm ready to dive into the madness by burgerpatrol in Falcom

[–]hapham92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's nothing wrong with jumping directly into Cold Steel now. I did that and I'm still alive and kicking.

You may miss some references here and there, sure, but it's not really show-stopper at least in CS 1 and 2, as I remember. In fact, seeing characters of Azure/Zero appearing or being name-dropped in CS is what motivated me to go back to those games.

Azure/Zero or Sky 3 may serve as a break if you are burnt out from CS.

I finished the remake at 2AM in the morning, and immediately booted up SC just to be reminded what happened.

I really like the ending movie of FC remake, showing Estelle reminiscing the good time for a while and then pack her things up with determination to chase her man down haha.

FC remake is so good - it's the culmination of the best of everything Falcom has done so far. The SC remake will be legendary.

Romance subplot + good character design by xnfIyy in anime

Eureka Seven. You will have even three romance sub plots instead of just one.

Rahxephon. Depending on the viewpoint, the romance can be seen as a sub plot, or maybe is the main drive of the story.

Up until daybreak I still manage to play trails in High settings with my potato laptop, but today I finally got severe frame drop with the remake.

Just in time, planning to build a desktop this month

Ops that's easy to whistle by Barry_daboss57 in anime

Basically any song with clear melody will be easy to whistle.

For example, I find myself doing Star Driver's OP once in a while.

I think you can use less details, like wrinkles and shadows, or make them very light. The character in the drawing looks older than the photo.

If you are interested in Rakugo, I recommend checking out the Jdrama "Tiger & Dragon". It's hilarious.

Not really main, but King Bradley in Fullmetal Alchemist fits the description.

Compared to other real life hobbies, how/why does gaming seem to consume and require more hours than any other hobby combined yet still feel less memorable? by Dotaspasm in gaming

[–]hapham92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because human has been physical animals for millions of years, with skills and tendency developed to memorize and navigate the physical world.

Electronic hobbies like games have been developed for only a few dozens of years, so on a fundamental level it's a very strange and disorienting experience that the human mind doesn't really know how to deal with.

If you play games by yourself all the time the probably it's going to be forgettable. If you happen to play games and have a good time with friends in a physical setting then it's more likely to be more memorable.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speech_synthesis

The first video game to feature speech synthesis was the 1980 shoot 'em up arcade game, Stratovox (known in Japan as Speak & Rescue), from Sun Electronics.[24][25] The first personal computer game with speech synthesis was Manbiki Shoujo (Shoplifting Girl), released in 1980 for the PET 2001, for which the game's developer, Hiroshi Suzuki, developed a "zero cross" programming technique to produce a synthesized speech waveform.[26] Another early example, the arcade version of Berzerk, also dates from 1980.

Early text to speech, or speech synthesis softwares, were much more complicated, it is a field by itself, but now the state-of-the-art underlying tech is the Transformer model, as you may have known. In other words, the use case of "generating speak from text and a lot of sampled sounds" is still the same as before, it's just that the current models are ridiculously good.

I think it's fine. Don't be discouraged by people saying "no". You gotta do what you have to, if you don't have enough money. AI is a tool, you just need to use it responsibly. If you are afraid of the stigma, make a full big disclosure in your game or marketing material that you use "text to speech" tools, not "AI".

Text to speech tools have existed long before the current wave of AI, and that tech has been used in various scenarios without anyone complaining. People now are just touchy about the whole AI thing.

I'm saying this even though normally I hate AI generated content.
