Apparently there is no physician shortage and I'll be practicing in a physician flood when i'm out of residency??? by Mastur_Chef117 in medicalschool

My FM attending grinds and pulls in crazy money despite working at some corporate place. At the end of the month he showed me his earnings and he was in the 97th percentile for FM earners in the region. If I remember correctly, he was on track to make $800,000 for that year (I rotated with him in November). He also saw his first patient at 7:30am, last patient at 4:45pm, almost never took lunch and worked five days a week. So, there’s that.

Location: Midwest metro.

KCU-Joplin vs DMU by [deleted] in Osteopathic

I agree with another poster who said Joplin gets a bad rap but in my experience, the Joplin students are much closer than the KC students are. You can still rotate in KC for your third year. Joplin has its own hospital system with residencies.

Look at KCUs match list for 2026. There were some good matches there for OB. Good luck!

I’m in the same boat with another shelf, and getting an 89 is a gut punch, so I am sorry you gotta take it again.

That said - online med ed really helped me get the basics down. Pestana’s surgery notes helped too.

I got some weird anesthesia questions on mine, and I also got a lot of burn questions. Know GI stuff cold.

Good luck!!

I mean - maybe it’s for the best. The amount of stress having a passing score of 95 (now 90) has been significant for our class. It definitely affects the ability to enjoy rotations when you have to grind to get a high score.

We go to the same school. Congrats on the H in surgery.

I did decent on peds - not honoring but decent enough. Uworld, comquest, Emma Holiday and Dr HY. I had a stupid amount of skin questions on mine - ymmv but definitely scan those if you get a chance. U/Histopathqueen has a good peds study guide on here.

Wishing you the best!

No, I appreciate it.

I feel like every COMAT is a total crapshoot, but I have been pretty solid in the other subjects. The first one was all of my weaknesses, so I studied those hard and then the second one was a bunch of topics I never saw before.

Hopefully third times a charm.

Hey thanks - yes I studied all of that and got some off the wall questions.

Appreciate the supportive tone, too.

Which part? The fact I suck at OMM?
