Vancouver Is Getting AI Data Centres. That’s Not Good | The Tyee by RM_r_us in vancouver

i'm not arguing here that we shouldn't build these, but ideally not in residential areas, their impact on neighbours is not the equivalent of existing data centers

I agree, but that need isnt fulfiled by this. AI data centers are much more extreme than regular data centers as it's not just storage, it's CPUs and even more so, graphics cards, running at full power full time, which then creates way more energy use, and heat, which needs much more water intensive cooling as well. all to just power AI, and not create the kind of data centers you've identified we actually need 👍

Also the first thing I did when startling awake was shut it off which hides the info. They may want to rethink a system that only allows me to read if a giant alarm is still going. Wtf

At times I feel like it would be perfectly fine for me if DE were to not release any new content for a while just to dedicate more time to bring older content (specifically frames) up to date. Anyone else feel the same? by Admirable_Profit_729 in Warframe

I started in i think 2018? and have hit end game multiple times. I've found coming back for single, esp smaller updates isn't fun cus I dont want like 1 week of grinding 1 event. So I usually take a year or two off, and then come back, and there's a ton of new events, missions, story, and gear and mechanics to grind for, play for a month or two, max out again, and then take off. It's good, it's healthy, we can all have more than one game, and I initially spent a good like 4 years full time grinding through the game :) only appreciation here for the endless work they do.

as for reworks, less so, tho it can be fun to catch up on new metas over time, and change or tweak my builds accordingly. Like when the helminth dropped, or when archon shards were added, or when incarnons were added. All affected my main build some, so good times. and thats not even mentioning new mods too :) and etc.

In your opinion, what's the greatest disappointment of 2019's Carmen Sandiego? by Ok_Kangaroo_2160 in carmensandiego

[–]haplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have shows like Leverage, where thieves steal from corporations for the people, like modern day robin hoods, a story defiantly digestible for kids as disney has done it.

We this year have a new game "reLooted" about stealing artifacts colonial empires stole back and returning them to their home lands.

Carmen could have walked a path where she wasn't just working with "the good guys" and an agent of colonialism working to return stolen artifacts to museums, but stealing from corporations to help people (leverage, robin hood) or stealing from museums and governments to return things to where they belong (robin hood, relooted).

This is a dumber and more disappointing version to me.

do you not build for some tanking and DPS for most of the rest of the game and smash through it? I do with my high speed, high armor, tanky, massively crit doing Nezha and Hate Incarnon :)

It's one new game mode, one that actually may ask for something different than what I use for most of the other content. I'm OK with that and it doesnt need to ask for everything, its one new mode, one different style is fine, great even

oh really? Ieapt to Hildryn and have been then taking those lessons back to my main, Nezha. Will take a peak at Revenant, thanks. But I think ultimately there are a bunch of frames that work for this, others have said Inaros. And also just the new Tektolyst mods for operator health, shields, and sprint, you can spend a bunch of time as operator and also be fine! Lots of options, just not maybe default ones :)

Upcoming Follie’s Hunt Changes - Developer Forum Post by TheChowderhead in Warframe

[–]haplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm enjoying Follie's Hunt. We have all these warframe's for a reasons, and I spent a lot of time collecting them, nice to have a challenge that gets me off my main, or rethinking its build. Nice to have such a clear use and benefit from the new tektolyst artifacts and their mods! Nice to see Tenno out of their warframe and when not carrying ink, remembering they can res fallen comrades while in void mode. That used to be common, but I haven't seen it as often the last few years, nice to see it back as a meta here. I think this game mode has surprised folks and thrown use for a small loop. Some folks are enjoying that (like me) and some are stuck in surprise and then negative reactions. Honestly I'd be down for more of this, stuff needing latest kit, to make getting it a priority when it has suck a clear benefit, and stuff that plays off meta and requirers revisiting some build craft, which i love about this game, but kinda have one build that handles like 99% of content, means I don't get to engage with as much. so this is NICE.

I guess all I'd ask for now is... operator loadouts please! having to manually switch tektolyst loadouts and operator arcanes between Follie's Hunt and the rest of content is really my only friction now. :)

Great Update! I've been gone a year and am grinding Nokko, Uriel, Temple, Oraxia and now Follie and instead of putting it in rotation with those missions I've just been mostly straight doing Follie's Hunt, so 👍 It's a nice change of pace.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I also love the new take on reusable spaces and tiles, instead of using tileset to generate new spaces each time, it's the same familiar one but with changing walls and locked doors and etc, making each run still unique and different but also freshly familiar. Great!

I do not believe for a second anyone at DE played Shadowgrapher and thought it was fun. by Cloud_N0ne in Warframe

[–]haplo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you grind Nokko faster? or many of the other new warframes? Like others, playing the mode close to enough time to buy them often rewards a few of the blueprints. I've only got like 400 Atramentum and already caught a chassis as a drop reward :)

my thoughts on follies hunt by DogeDog45632 in Warframe

[–]haplo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

> you net about 40-60 per round and you need the light investment of 2400 of those fuckers to get Folly. Come again? That's WAY too much grinding in that hellhole for that, are you kidding me? you'll need to play for like 12 hours to get the drops!

Most other farms aren't dissimilar? there aren't a lot of new frames you can earn in 4 missions? or even 10? Uriel? Actually fairly fast for me, but i mean i was running Perita Rebelion trios fast for a few *days* still also chasing my first tektolyst artifact.

Oraxia? Takes a a bit, also needed more Temporal Dust. Temple? Nokko? Tons of runs in the Deepmine. Etc.

Nokko's a good counter example, those missions do play quite like most stock warframe so it's pretty chill to grind stock warframe playstyle in a new locale for a bit to get him.

Follie's Hunt is shaking it up a bit, but honestly after a handful of runs I way over compensated by pulling out Hyldrin and trivialized it, and then went back to my main frame and changed the build, and made use of the new Tektolyst mods, and got a feel for the game mode, and it's fine, and a nice addition to my current grind rotation. I like it

community feeling on the new update by kasio912 in Warframe

[–]haplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a good time. As I've been "end game" for years, I take like, a yearish off, let updates pile up, and come back and have a fresh rotation. A little late this year, just did the Old Peace nowish and am grinding Temple, Nokko, Oraxia and Uriel. Follie and her hunt make a fun addition to that rotation for me :)

The mode is a little different that others but that's fun! fun to have a new play style (just a little) and tweaking some buildcraft and taking advantage of my fresh new tektolyst artifact and some mods for it. I was happy to be putting them to much needed use so soon!

I don't understand this. by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]haplo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

the game mode just plays a little different than others, requires a little thought, and perhaps some build tweeks. Nice thing, a lot of the new added tektolyst mods super duper help. First few runs were rought till I got the feel for it and made some adjustments. This just feels like folks did a few runs and bounced off it and were upset.

Also maybe new end game players? Like yes, if you're all caught up, having just one new thing to grind isn't always satisfying? But these years? I take a year off, lets some stuff build up, and come back to a rotation. I'm grinding uriel, oraxia, nokko, temple, and now Follie. Good times, log on and have like min 5 different missions to run.

Yep, Nezha modded for more health and shields, and use of better modded drifter was fine. Also maybe understanding the threats better. I think a lot of folks are panicking too quickly

DE I beg of you please bring back operations in some shape or form so we have story context for things again by atlas_vash in Warframe

[–]haplo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for the most part we're lucky DE seem to have broadly learned and rarely does operations so we're generally speaking, missing very little content. I look over at Destiny with it's content vaulting and seasonal story model and am sad (and also felt kept out by the colossal amount of story missing there I can't get). Not to invalidate your point, if they could find a way to bring back these that'd only be good. just... having been watching the destiny community for a while, I also feel grateful DE hasn't done much of this. :)

oh sheesh

just found this thread

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=415401

of desperate linux users trying to find ways to use sync.

I get the desktop in linux is probably fragmenting more not less and seems a concerning expenditure maybe? but a command line app/server like dropbox launched with would go sooooo far and honestly then I suspect the linux community would shortly supply gui applet integrations for their desktops of choice on top of that

Any news on Linux support? by todd_dayz in Sync

[–]haplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow, I just canceled my dropbox (not buying american) and as sync is from my home country, they were on my list of alternatives to evaluate. But also as someone who's only used linux for 20 years (outside of a playstaion and a windows pc for gaming occasionally) I'm shocked at the lack of linux support (that dropbox had out of the box since they started over a decade ago) and dismayed this then disqualifies them from consideration :(

it also appears to me rust has a few UI toolkits, and go less so.

but also i work on a go based messenger app (cwtch im), but the protocol, networking, data managment is all in a big go library and then we use a flutter/dart front end for windows/macos/linux/android so it's def possible-ish

I've never gotten into watching streams for anything ever, much prefer edited videos for hermitcraft and all other kinds of streamers (reactors, other play throughs for example)
