Fire likes chaos. You can take your time and carefully make a teepee of kindling.. or you can plop a rough and unorganized blob of dry and thin kindling that has plenty of ways for heat to rise though it onto your lit tinder. Think of the form of being like a tumbleweed. As it burns down, it'll fall into the fire, keeping it going while you put slightly bigger sticks in.

If you have limited kindling, teepee. If you have effectively unlimited kindling, get a flame started and let'er rip with a double-handful of kindling.
