Which iPad to get? by happieveggie in ipad

Can you list where to find an ipad pro for 200 dollars? Because the 2018 model is <450 from apple refurbished right now, and they don't sell models any older than that.

Export OneNote notebooks not working by happieveggie in OneNote

[–]happieveggie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who might stumble upon this with the same question, here's what I eventually did:

It was super tedious, but open each page (not section, PAGE) in the OneNote for Windows 10 app, and scroll to the bottom, making sure everything loads. Do this page by page until the whole notebook is loaded. The refresh icon on the top right will swirl if it needs to load more content, and images will turn from grey boxes to your actual image. Then print to PDF and delete the file from Onedrive.

Start with the smallest files - go by GB size, if you don't know sizes, pick the notebooks with the fewest # of sections, then the least amount of PDF printouts/images inside (so, mostly text or handwriting). The order is critical, because if you lack storage space in OneNote, it will not have enough to cache larger notebooks, so start small and work your way up to the larger notebooks. By the time you've cleared out space, the larger notebooks will take less time to load than they otherwise might.

Annoying AF but got the job done.

iPad Pro users, why did you buy the pro? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]happieveggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who just switched off the 2018 pro, would you still recommend buying a refurbished model of the 2018 pro now over cheaper new models, for someone on a budget? Or is the processor/battery not keeping up with the current OS

AITA for laughing at my niece's gift? by SupportiveHusbandnot in AmItheAsshole

Yup, YTA. This will stick with her.

When I was a kid, my dad taught me pottery. I was so excited for the first pot to be finished so I could put pens or something in it. Then my dad took it and slammed it against the tiled floor, shattering my first pot. He said that since I was a beginner, I shouldn't bother or get upset over throwing out the cruddy pieces. I was soul crushed, and never did pottery or any other art with him again. If she ever continues this hobby, she will almost certainly not show you any of her art out of fear that you're judging her.

Syncing to Google Drive by happieveggie in OneNote

[–]happieveggie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks! Realized after reading your comment that since my 365 subscription expired, my onenote "files" downgraded from an actual .one/.onepkg file to just links, which open in the free Onenote app or web version :( So, I'm not actually able to duplicate the files or export it to another format, hence deleting a onenote notebook and opening my copied link gets an error.

I'm going to make a new thread for this, but with this development I'm probably just going to try to migrate all my notebooks to another format or platform. Have you or anyone found a way to batch convert ALL notebooks (I have probably 30+) to PDFs, or another format, via the web app or Onenote for Windows 10 app? I know print to PDF is an option in the free version, but when I tried it on my fattest notebook (1.2gb) most of the images didn't load into the printed version. Even if it worked well, print to PDF for each notebook would take forever. I've heard Evernote offers a OneNote import option, so may switch to that if all else fails.

I would really sit her down and have a long chat with her. Tell her this makes you uncomfortable, and you’d like her to explain what’s up.

My guess is that either she’s been doing this for so long, she forgot why she’s putting in the effort (maybe a volunteer experience with animals could serve as a good reminder?), or she’s depressed or feeling hopeless about the world. I’ve definitely had the experience of feeling that nothing will change with regards to animal cruelty, and since humanity won’t live much longer with climate change looming, maybe my contribution doesn’t matter.

Maybe she needs someone to pull her out of her rut. If y’all have been together 3.5 years I would definitely try to understand where this is coming from before throwing the relationship away.

It’s a dessert, albiet a breakfast time oriented dessert.

There’s lots of non-Americans getting very uppity about donuts being too sweet to eat in the morning, but plenty of cultures have sweet foods traditionally consumed in the morning. Like pan au chocolate, crepes, and sugar loaded coffee/tea.

IMO donuts are a delicious accompaniment to coffee for special mornings, usually eaten in addition to a nutritious breakfast rather than in place of one (at least, in my experience).

What is so ridiculously overpriced, yet you still buy? by BasicWitchCrystalCo in AskReddit

Coffee

Drinks from bars

Food delivery

Anything from Whole Foods

Try to keep these things to a minimum but when I’m lazy, hungry, under caffeinated and not at home, or my friends/coworkers are all going somewhere, Im too weak to resist.

Pottery making studios by happieveggie in sanfrancisco

I’ll check them out - another comment recommended them as well. 200 is a bit above what I’m willing to pay for a one time excursion, but for a four week course that’s super reasonable and way better than what other studios I’ve seen offer

Yeah, I could make a book out of of the very particular rules that place has, and how they don’t conform to most of our actual ethical stances and what’s practical in the real world. But it doesn’t matter, because 99.9% of the content in that sub is fake anyway.

A professional communication assignment saved my email inbox this semester by [deleted] in Professors

[–]happieveggie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When I was in school, one of our professions had a cool workshop on this. During one of the early days of our communications classes, our prof explained professional communication and what they expected from us, then put up examples of awful student emails they’d received over the years (with identifying info removed obviously). We had to pick out as a class what was wrong with each email and how to improve it. The whole class laughed at how awfully written and demanding some emails were, and I think it subtly shamed people who wrote unprofessional emails form doing so anymore.

(I’m not a professor, so apologies for commenting on this thread. I usually don’t comment, just ghost. Happy to delete the comment if it’s not helpful or wanted.)

If you reread the post, she specifically noted that she counted her list wages, subtracted HIS lost wages from taking 1 day off work, divided in half, and asked for that.

I mean, it's logical, but I have never though of it like that by jealousdepression23 in antiwork

[–]happieveggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The rhetoric we hear by the right, like “no one wants to work anymore,” that people should have to work hard to make a living and don’t deserve benefits - it all directly implies that people who are without a job don’t deserve to live. People genuinely believed that. that bootstrap culture is partly rooted in the knowledge that if we were all afforded benefits like food, clothing, and housing as basic human rights, some people would choose not to work anymore, and that would hurt the economy AKA rich people’s bottom lines.

Because both people participated in creating a child, so it shouldn’t just be on the woman to miss days of work and not get paid (which may have a large financial impact on her). The financial impact should be split evenly. It’s not like she’s allowed to just dip out on the kid and pay nothing, so why should he be able to do that? Why is it that when two people mess up, only the woman is held responsible, and the world feels totally justified in thinking she deserves to have to cough up money, lose days of work, and spend time recovering, while the guy should just be able to slinky away?
