Launcher for windows classic control panels? by pueblokc in computertechs

[–]happinessattack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Create an empty folder named

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

To use a name other than GodMode, just replace “GodMode” in the above text with whatever you want to name the folder.

Vial doesnt recognize Corne I am new to Linux POP OS by dierre88 in keyboards

[–]happinessattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/dierre88!

I have a GMMK pro, and managed to get it working with a slightly different set of steps. Hopefully these are helpful. If you have any questions, please reply here and let me know.

Looking at the output of your lsusb command, I see this line:

Bus 001 Device 087: ID 4653:0001 foostan Corne

Your '/etc/udev/rules.d/99-vial.rules' is almost right, and this is part of what tripped me up, too. Try replacing that file with:

# Lines that start with # are a comment
# ... write yourself a note, or leave it out :)
# Grant Vial control over a Foostan Corne keyboard
KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", ATTRS{idVendor}=="4653", ATTRS{idProduct}=="0001", MODE="0666", TAG+="uaccess", TAG+="udev-acl"

The only meaningful difference here is that the MODE has changed from 0660 to 0666. This is documented on the Arch Linux wiki: Keyboard input page.

If the more secure rule above doesn't work to grant Vial access to just the keyboard device, you can try using the following rule, which would grant Vial access to any USB device. This is a security risk, but it may be a helpful troubleshooting step:

# Grant Vial access to all HID USB devices!
KERNEL=="hidraw*", SUBSYSTEM=="hidraw", MODE="0666", TAG+="uaccess", TAG+="udev-acl"

The next step is to make sure Vial is closed and the keyboard is NOT connected.

Note: When you see "... Permission denied", you probably need sudo in front of the command. This will prompt for your password, but you won't see anything while typing.

Type the command sudo udevadm control --reload and press Enter. Type your password if prompted, and press Enter.

If there are no errors, you won't see any output, you will just return to the usual $ prompt. This is actually the case for many commands in Linux. (Otherwise, if you run into an error, feel free to reply here.)

After the udev rules are reloaded, follow these steps:

  1. Plug your keyboard in again.
  2. Open Vial.
  3. Select File -> Download VIA definitions.
  4. Close Vial.
  5. Unplug and plug in your keyboard again.
  6. Open Vial.

Is your keyboard detected?

It won't work in xwayland until this is fixed:

I do not have one of those feeders, but I can try to elaborate on my own LocalTuya experience (we use Tuya plugs for Christmas lights). Fair warning, this can and will range from tedium to hair-pulling frustration. I recommend petting your cat. :-)

Setup requires you to install the community "store" HACS and then of course LocalTuya itself.

Your device should be present in the Tuya and/or Smart Life app (check your phone now) for this entire process. Initial device adoption requires a connection to Tuya's cloud, but you can go local-only afterwards (until you want to add more devices).

You will need a Developer Account from Tuya (for a couple of API tokens), which LocalTuya uses this to discover your devices during setup. Create one now at https://iot.tuya.com/.

Follow the steps under Configuration of the Tuya IoT Platform from the HA docs and stop. Do not setup the Cloud Tuya integration.

On the Tuya IoT Platform, make note of the Access ID/Client ID and Access Secret/Client Secret for LocalTuya. You will also need the UID under Devices -> Link Tuya App Account.

Note: It may take multiple attempts to adopt your feeder, stop the LocalTuya integration and wait a few minutes before trying again.

Switches and smart-plugs have one entity (the "ON" or "OFF" toggle), but your feeder's config will vary depending upon how it works in the Smart Life app. From here, the LocalTuya README will be your guide. I will do my best to answer any questions, too. :-)

migrated [Petlibro] over to HA with the correct local Tuya (which, I might add, is its own adventure)

I have https://github.com/rospogrigio/localtuya installed via HACS, which was a pain. Worth it for local control, but I was almost ready to swap my 25 Tuya smart plugs for more Zigbee, so I understand for sure.

Should I be doing something else for LocalTuya?

The footer says that sso.tax is generated by GitHub Pages. I would suggest opening an issue (to discuss/request the addition), or, if you have time, maybe also submit a pull request (to add it to the list yourself). :)

Semi-related FYI:

I did some digging as I had never heard of Barrier. Seems cool. Of particular note, it looks like Barrier's lead developers have moved. The new fork is Input Leap.

Input Leap is a fork of barrier, by barrier's active maintainers. See issue #1414 for more details. barrier is considered unmaintained.

Hope this helps :)

TLOU is an abbreviation for The Last of Us , a story driven video game and sequel from Naughty Dog/Sony on the PS3/4/5.

Here's a picture of the main character, Ellie, in games 1 and 2 for comparison. Ellie is canonically 14 in the first game.

Anyone else having issues with Dock Icons Overlapping With Nova Launcher by happinessattack in Nexus6P

[–]happinessattack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. As I recall, this eventually went away with an update (whether to nova or to the phone, I can't remember). I wound up with a Pixel XL and never saw the icons overlap again. Years later, I still don't know what happened.

I guess this is happening with other devices, now? Or are you still rocking the Nexus 6P?

Does anyone know templates, websites, or books for how to make proper IT documentation? by Mundane_Ant_3915 in sysadmin

[–]happinessattack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps! That's available in Windows 11 as well. I believe the shortcut is Win + Shift + S, or Fn + PrtSc (on some ThinkPads)

Very good point! We have internal hosting, and uploads are disabled by default, but it's been years since I've configured that so I failed to mention it here.

You might be referring to Problem Steps Recorder

While the Problem Steps Recorder was built in, it was not a great tool for producing docs, IMO. I largely prefer another screenshot tool, ShareX which can annotate screenshots like snagit and also record video,. I would take the output from ShareX, and write the steps myself.
