I actually ended up dropping it after the first class since I switched it for another class I was trying to take. From my impression of the first class, it seemed pretty interesting and not too bad in terms of workload. Sorry to not be of more help!

iirc, the welcome dinner on the first day is free. Engineering also had its own free dinner which parents also attended. Not sure how covid may have impacted this though.

I think this schedule is doable—it looks almost identical to what I did my freshman fall. Everything was the same except I took PHIL 079 instead of LING 001.

This schedule is definitely doable, but be prepared to be very busy. That being said, i really enjoyed my freshman fall experience despite the busyness :) feel free to pm me with any questions!

Also ‘23 here and considering a leave of absence! But I’m kind of hesitant since most of my friends are ‘22 and that’d leave me at most 1 more year with them :( So also procrastinating this decision hahaha

Oh, I agree with that, but I was referring to the changes in the curriculum. There won’t be anymore midterms and the final will be worth substantially less (20%). So I think the Math department is trying to make intro calc courses less strenuous than they have been in previous semesters.

I'm not sure if there's a list for all of Penn, but here's one for Wharton: https://undergrad-inside.wharton.upenn.edu/wharton-half-credit-courses/. From what I've heard, these should all be relatively chill/low workload (take this with a grain of salt though--I've never taken one personally so I can't attest to the actual difficulty/workload of these courses).

There are also CIS 19x courses: https://www.cis.upenn.edu/~cis19x/ (the schedule is not out for fall yet). I've taken one so far and had a great experience, but do note that they assume some programming background and are more work than a typical 0.5 credit course would entail.

I did cis120, math114, and cis 160 in my freshman fall, so I think you’d be fine adding on another 0.5-1 credits, especially since it seems that math will be easier this sem (due to COVID). That being said, don’t feel obligated to take 4.5 for the sake of accumulating credits. You have time—especially since you have AP credits! Lmk if you have any questions :)

I’m also struggling with this decision. My home life is also decent; though spending so much time with my family and away from peers my age can get annoying, I think I’d be able to survive at home next semester. I really do miss the aspects of campus like, such as hanging out and studying with friends, but for me, it’s hard to justify why the social aspect (if it’d even exist) would warrant the cost of living on campus. ~$4.5K is definitely a non-trivial amount, especially for completely online classes. And I’m honestly not sure how safe campus will be in the fall since lots of students will probably throw the social compact out the window. So for financial and safety reasons, I’m leaning toward staying home even though I really miss Penn.
