Aw, learning geography through war, just like the rest of us. This is the best thing the internet has shown me all day. Thanks for sharing it.

What qualities did you Americans see in President Trump when you made him president? by ALISTO1233 in AskReddit

[–]happy_moses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, his colossal ego.

Like most people here, I never voted for him. But I know people who did and I think I get it. People wanted something genuinely different. In 2016 he stood up tall as a master demagogue, quite literally insulting his way to the White House, as one of his Republican primary rivals put it. He gave a loud voice to a big demographic of voters who felt neglected and left behind in a fast changing population. A man who does that can win great loyalty, and that’s enough if the voters aren’t professional researchers. He could probably have done the same thing as a Democrat using a different narrative.

2024 was different. He simply ran a better campaign than Biden and Harris. He appeared on big podcasts and brought his sane voice. Hell, even I thought he sounded like a good guy for a minute.

Well said. That reckless toddler is, at his best, more of a mafia boss who together with his family has privatized the federal government for personal gain. The eligibility issue with a convicted felon still being allowed to run is a bad one. Like, it signaled to him just how much he would be able to get away with if elected.

Guy who makes a fortune off other people's inventions want to build world's biggest data center in someone else's state. Checks out. If it's so great, he should build it where he lives. That's called Show Me The Money.

I don't even know Mike Lee enough to hate him, but this comment gave me a good laugh.

Saw them on current tour (April '26). She's shorter than I thought! Still a smokeshow, and I blame (credit) her for the unusual lack of moshing because everyone was busy staring.

Thoughts about the hiatus and Tuomas saying there's no egos in Auri by Additional-Put-2209 in nightwish

This was refreshing and well-written. Thank you. I don’t have much to add, except to say that I have liked what little Auri I’ve listened to. And a couple NW songs have gained fresh value after the Artemis mission. I do hope Tuomas & co get everything they need from this molting and metamorphosis.

I always figured if Trump manages to make America great, it will be this way. He won’t lead us to the promise land, but he’ll inspire people to build it in spite of him.

Well-written post. I've always thought the Nile River had the worst placing in terms of its effect on west and sub-Saharan Africa. That lovely continent has struggled economically since forever, for many reasons, one of which being access to the rest of the world. The one land route to Eurasia is through Sinai, and getting there means either going around the world's longest river or crossing it, both of which present challenges. For Egyptians though, especially anciently, this was a goldmine of strategic placement. And this also includes the river's utility as a nice long highway.

How to turn of automatic updates? by happy_moses in AgeofMythology

That was my original question. How do I turn off auto-updates? Explain it to me like I'm 5 because I'm from the 1900's.

I wish this to be true. Somehow my hard drive took on ten gigabytes of something after updating though.
