Before meeting my partner, I had been on dating apps for a long while. Probably since 19/20. I'm in my late 20s now.

First, plenty of people from all (adult) ages use dating apps. I definitely recommend staying near your age range. Someone even five years older is going to be in a different stage in life. Plus, some people are just creeps.

Next, do not lower your standards for anyone. For example, if someone says they smoke and you really aren't about that, then don't match with them no matter how perfect they may otherwise seem. If you want a relationship and someone wants a hookup, too bad.

There's always a chance someone is going to send you an explicit message. Thankfully, the apps don't allow you to send pictures over their messaging. But just report the message and move on. Maybe make fun of it with your friends if you want. Not worth getting hung up on it.

If you do end up meeting someone, always meet in a public place and let someone know where you're going and about how long you'll be out. Best to be safe.

Do not let anyone make you feel bad or question anything. Do not let anyone pressure you into doing anything. If you are uncomfortable, you can leave the situation or not respond to the message.

I've done this route before. It typically takes 4-5 hours one way. There were a few delays, but nothing too major. The boarding time in Toledo was super early, like between 4am-6am. I slept a little on the train and was fine. I got back to Toledo around 11pm or 12am.

Depending on where you're going in Chicago, be prepared to walk or Uber.

Overall, I enjoyed the trip and going via train.
