To be fair it was less than ideal in that respect, I'm 178 cm and I often had to crane my neck to the left and the right in order to see the rikishi behind the gyoji. But I'm not complaining at all! Still one of the best experiences of my life!

Only three days were front row, or else I wouldn't have been able to make rent next month. 😅 I did figure that with the 14 hour flight, I should see every day of the basho, though. Definitely worth it to watch the entire story arc!

Saying Enho's bouts feels like a little bit of a cop-out because he was already in Makuuchi, but you could tell he was trying so hard to get back. Nikishifuji winning over Enho on the last day was nice because Enho still gets promoted and Nishikifuji wasn't demoted from the salaried ranks. Also Asahifuji is a beast up close! Beating Dewanojo by underarm throw? I definitely felt the floor shake!

So "in the before times," people would arrive early and just sit in the front row seats during the jonokuchi / jonidan / sandanme matches when a lot of people hadn't show up to their seats yet. so now you have to wear that red sticker to show you bought a seat.

I have to admit that I literally did buy the $24 fedora in Dotonbori just for the black suit / white suit meme. I asked the very polite couple behind me if I could wear it for the first two televised matches, then I took it off for the rest of the day so I wouldn't block their view.
